I know, I know...it's only one win and it's the first game of the year but does anyone on here truly doubt that we can be a contender in the MAC THIS YEAR? Kenny shoots horribly from 3. As a team we shoot horribly from 3 and we still beat an athletic, tough team from a tough conference with a strong program by 10! Are you kidding me? Treg doesn't score a bunch. Tony in foul trouble. What a win. And Doug Taylor, Wadley, Laster, even Block and Gollon in short minutes...just a great TEAM win. Haven't seen that since Groce!

I said it last season that we could be in the thick of things in the MAC come March.
Still very early!!!

I know it's early. I am aware that this could be an anomaly...but man does this feel good. It's not Appy State or the Citadel. This is a solid team we just beat with a transfer that wasn't expected to be available. Just loved the ball movement and the unselfishness. Loved the huddle on free throws and the high fives all around. I just think about how FGCU would be expected to play in the MAC and I would like to think they'd be tough in our league, therefore making us tough. Jaaron won't have six turnovers very often either and man, oh man, what a nice TEAM win.

The exciting thing for me is that we shot so poorly from behind the arc and still won. It seemed like all of our wins last year were from hot outside shooting nights.

Its a nice first game, but we got a long way to go. The defensive had a few breakdowns. Some sloppy ball handling and some poor shot selection. FGCU didn't have a big frontline. We dominated the glass today. How often will we have that kind of margin on the boards. Without Wadley we might have lost this game. He was a big reason for us today. We get consistent production from him inside we might replace part of what we lost with N'Dour.

FGCU's starting front court is 6-8 218, 6-9 218, 6-9 250. Not lot of size off the bench, but still there aren't many front courts in the MAC bigger than that.

Akron is the only front court in the MAC East with more size than that honestly.

I'm excited to watch this team more. We looked good. Monday should be fun.

I'm still amazed how tall our starting 5 is. 4 guys over 6-8? And it looks like it works. And look at the recruit we just signed... Another 6-6 kid who can play outside and in... I'm starting to vibe with Saul Ball.

We won it at the free throw line. Ohio -25/34. FGU -13/18. Most nights will not provide such a lopsided margin.

Absolutely love the 45-31 rebound margin.

Shoot free throws and rebound. You can win a lotta games that way...

Man! Now I'm excited Mr. Knee! I wasn't able to watch yesterday but followed on my device while golfing (got to get in as many rounds as possible before the cold).

Given my Dolphins suck (again), the football Cats let me down (again) and my Reds have no chance (again), this is a pleasant surprise to read. I thought the only hope I had was my Blue Devils.

Will be jetting home from work tomorrow to watch online. Going to be crowded in downtown Cinci tomorrow night. The Banks will be rocking!

Would love back-to-back wins Monday and Tuesday.

BANG! Oh baby what a positive big time attitude day here in The Nati!

not to temper enthusiasm but Dunk City's program is in full rebuilding mode. FGCU is easily my second favorite program, was there on campus last week in fact. We have property about 15 miles south of there and spend a few weeks a year in that area.

I thought we might have had a tougher game this year, but you better believe I was hoping to repay them for their blowout victory last year.

Our victory does give me reason to hope for a better than .500 record, though. not sure about 20 wins, the MAC schedule is a brutal grind.

Is there a problem with rooting for more than one team? College Basketball is ideal for watching and cheering on multiple schools, particularly if your family went to a different school that Ohio.

Agreed. Grew up watching Maryland and still do. Can't wait for the game against Georgetown tomorrow. Not as excited as I am about tonight's game but it should be interesting for those of us in the DC area.

Going to have to shot better than this to win 20. 6 of 20 from 3 so far. Not good two games in a row.

Really? Some awful s*&t? Like Russ said on the broadcast, whether it was Tennessee, Tennessee State or Kentucky, we don't win that game no matter what last year. If Bean didn't hit for 20 we were done last year. Now, we win by 8 with Kaminski and Wadly scoring four points? Come on! Dartis with 17. Block with 12! Harley with 8! This Tennessee State team would be tough in the MAC. Athletic as heck. Martin tough inside. They were underestimated by prognosticators like we are with so many transfers. We are 2-0 with Kenny going 1 for 85 from 3-point range and Big Tone basically going for 10 and 6 with 9 fouls in 2 games. I can't wait for this team to find its personality and its lineup! Block and Dartis in second game of careers are you kidding me? !!!!!! AWESOME!

The frosh totally bailed us out. I know we'll play better many nights but based solely on tonight, it's ugly. That was two really good runs accompanied by a lot of sleepwalking. If you couldn't tell which team showed up with energy tonight, you weren't paying attention. No it's not doom, it just wasn't impressive by any stretch. I'm very looking fwd to seed how things develop. And Simmons should burn the game tape.

Speaking of sleepwalking, how about the ozone? No noise whatsoever until three minutes to go. Lame.
