He was given a release to non-Horizon league schools.

NCAA allows 13 players on scholarship, Saul has 13 players on scholarship, there is no offer because there is nothing to offer.

Got to love the line from his bio...."filled up the stat sheet vs Goshen".... That's pretty funny considering Goshen is a veritable basketball juggernaut. (where is that sarcasm emoji?)

It is a funny title to a thread.... Is he a stone cold NBA lock? The title implies that he is the kind of player we should be dropping everything and putting on a full scale recruiting rush. What do you know about the kid that warrants that kind of attention? He is a Croatian National, PF with the ability to step out and shoot the 3, not much of an inside game IIRC for those who love the traditional 6 8 "bangers" and he seems to rise to the occasion vs IU South Bend and such.

Is he a good teamie that has huge upside and fits Saul's system to a t? What is it that supports the implcation that Saul is neglecting going after a potentially great Ohio player?

His stats from last year: Played 29 games, started 13, averaged 19.7 mins, 6.5 pts, 3.1 rebs, 32.8% from 3, 44.2% overall, 74.4% FT, 44 assists for the season, 39 TOs, 8 blocks, fouled out 3 times. Don't see anything spectacular here. http://files.streamlinetechnologies.com/valpoathletics/51...

The next closest on the Ohio team stat-wise averaged 3.2ppg in 14 min. per game and started 20 games. Not too different.

Actually Skara's scoring average would have been 6th on the Bobcats team last season. If there is no schollie left, then there is not schollie left. But ridicule of his stats when they would have been good for 6th best on the team last year... don't see much room for that.

If that is directed toward my response, there was no denigration or ridicule intended. I was asking if there was anything we did not know that warranted a hard look at this kid? I am ALWAYS interested in finding players and seeing a potential athlete that could wear the green and white and represent this U in a positive way.....so when you see me asking questions it is to glean info from anyone who sees talent somewhere or anywhere. I have, for decades, looked at kids from 3rd grade to transfers and loved the process of finding and identifying talent. That is one of my passions.... when I am asking it is out of pure curiosity and interest.

In your response you alluded to stat lines which I NEVER look at when assessing talent ...I am a true follower of the "figures lie and liars figure" school of basketball analysis. When I read the Valpo SID's description which states he "stuffed the stat sheet" or scored vs Trinity International, Goshen and IU South Bend I have to bend a jaundiced eye and figure out what Dartis, Tony or Jaron would have done vs. Cedarville, OU Chillicothe or OU Lancaster if let loose to "stuff the stat sheet". If any ridicule is in order it should be toward the SID who essentially polished a turd implying that dominating Goshen or IUSB were a real feather in the cap accomplishment.

I was really asking to see if you had some inside info that led you to ask the question "WHY is...." as if he and the staff were neglecting the program or not doing something to follow a lead which was a slam dunk or foregone obvious recruiting conclusion. I respect anyone who comes on here and provides links to players or talent. I am glad you did and I am sorry you took that in a negative way. We have to flip over rocks to get talent vs Power 5 recruiting. Getting out and seeing that talent live is pretty essential.

Jon Rothstein @JonRothstein
Valpo transfer David Skara has committed to Clemson, source told @CBSSports. Sit one, play two.

No comments on the kid transferring from Valpo to the ACC?

(All I can say in summation, is Bryce Drew wouldn't have brought this guy over from Europe to play D-1 ball in the USA if he didn't have potential. The Drew family has a couple of years under their collective belt at this hoops thing they do)

I'm not sure what you're looking for? Since I don't have any info on the kid short of this thread, I really have little useful input, other than to say, just because an ACC school signed him, it doesn't make him a special player. It means he filled a need, and they have a scholarship to give. Of course, he could end up being a starter there next year too. Time will tell.

What exactly do you want? There are just short of 5,000 kids under scholarship in D1 basketball that did not sign with Ohio. Do you have inside knowledge that this kid was interested in Ohio and Saul's aloofness kept him from coming here and Clemson is the beneficiary of our idiocy? And who are we kicking off the team to fit this kid if the stars all align?

I'm sure he's a long lost cousin of some guy named Bota.

Brownell is a smart dude with indiana Roots. No surprise Clemson called if they had a need. ACC does not mean so much to me when a kid commits. If he had gone to Boston College it's still ACC. Does that legitimize him?...they're still 0-18 in the conference with multiple positions open and not enough bodies.....does it mean anyone committing there is above Ohio/MAC good because they are at an ACC school?

I am still waiting to hear the reason we should be thinking about Creaning someone on OUr roster for this player...
