*thinks Jaaron should play MORE minutes next season. Said he's like a 35 yr old man, maturity wise. Practically guaranteed he'll lead NCAA in assists.

*spoke to KK's positive attitude and unselfishness last season, was really banged up and only wanted to help team win.

*Treg will be missed. Saul was 4th HC who recruited or coached him in college, but he was honored to be the last.

*Tony has gotten in better shape each season, should be in line to be drafted next season. Or make a mint playing pro ball somewhere. Bright future.

*the big man signed this past year will bring some welcomed "mean", in the best possible meaning, to team. Opponents feel his physicality. They know they played him afterwards.

*the other recruit is a high flyer and will bring strong D to the table.

Saul reiterated he's thrilled representing our university, gonna be that way for a while. He was impressed how this team came together last year, truly a joy. He expects to be really good every year moving forward. Not where he wants yet, but getting close.

I missed the out of conference inquiry opportunity. Will try after event.

Thanks. Good stuff. If you aren't drinking the kool-aid with Saul and I you are missing out.

Does anybody know if his shoulder is a chronic problem or something that will have healed in the offseason?

All me know is that an objective pronoun is appropriate.

These are two really surprising things. Hard to believe he's not worried about Jaaron getting some rest. I understand what he's saying, wanting him on the floor as much as possible. But I'm worried about the length of the season and wear and tear. We need him fresh for MAC Tourney time.

Also didn't realize Jason Carter was as physical as he's saying. That's a huge plus.

I agree with you in that I had a similar concern, and considered another PG something of need in this offseason. That said, I don't think Jaaron had any drop off towards the end of the season, did he?

No, I guess he didn't really. But then again I always like to overcompensate. Just in case. And the "what if" scenario of injury or foul trouble is always in my head.

Or myself?

Anyway, it's a coach's job to put a program in the best light, and we all know Saul's enthusiasm. But there's little to disagree with in what he said. Ohio should be among the top two or three in pre-season votes for the MACC, and should be in the hunt right to the end.

I usually subscribe to this line of thinking as well. Rest is certainly needed to varying degrees, depending on the player. I believe Jaaron is in *elite* shape. He's got a ton of strength for his size and seems to be very conditioned. Seems to have those iron lungs.

If Tony, Dartis, and KK improve over LY we will win the MACC, period. Add in some bench players improvement and we will go past the 1st round in the NCAA tournament come March.

I got the impression that KK doesn't need to improve as much as get healthy (which is not guaranteed). I had no idea he was injured to the degree he was last season.

The offense approaches elite, the d not so much. But it's getting there with some of the new guys.

I enjoyed the Cincy Caravan. Did bum me out a little to hear KK only has one year left. For some reason, I was thinking two but that's why I asked the question.

I'm optimistic too, but let's get to January before we start talking about advancing in the tournament.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if Jaaron graduates at the end of next school year, he can transfer somewhere else and play immediately as a grad transfer. And I'm sure he'd have some big schools happy to accommodate him.

With that said, we should be all-in on this coming season. This is the time to do it.

My excitement here was that a 71 poster was wildly optimistic in a post.

However, also yes, I'm all for way-too-early calls of deep tournament runs.

Does anyone keep seeing this thread and reading it as "Saul Phillips is encouraging people to live in Cincy?" Just me?

The english language is a tricky one.
