Monroe, on another thread asked about the team this year, brucecuth mentioned the loss of Black and he and allen spoke about the strong recruiting class and the high expectations for this team. I couldn't agree more. Here's my take:

First the bad news: we lost two starters: All around player Lexie Baldwin and the scoring machine Kiyanna ‘KB’ Black. If you had the good fortune to see KB play over the past years it was special. When her offensive game was on, which was often, it was time to sit back, relax and enjoy the KB show. She led the nation in 3 pointers per game!

Now the good news and there’s lots of good news. We are deep from last years returners and we’ve re-loaded too with 3 players who will definitely be seeing the court this year.

The returners are headed by scorer and defensive wizard Quiera 'Kiki' Lampkins, Yamonie ‘the Blur’ Jenkins, and defensive specialist Jasmine Witherspoon. We need big years from these 3. We also have a solid supporting cast with Kelly Karlis, Athens own Dominique Doseck, Hana Boesinger, and late bloomer Tmisht Stinson. Others may come forward too.

And now for our 3 newbies. Get a load of this:

Amani Burke, 5-9 guard from Eastmoor Academy, sister of NBA Wizard’s Trey.
D-II AP State Co-Player of the Year!

Meche’la Cobb, 6-0 guard from New Albany
Originally committed with WVU after her soph year but the offer was pulled as she missed her jr. year (ACL).
Came back senior year to average a 20/10.
D-I AP first team!

Taylor Agler, 5-9 Indiana transfer jr. guard
Started all 34 games as a frosh for the Hoosiers, averaging 7.8 ppg.
At Olentangy, she was 2nd team All-State and conference POY.

This will be an exciting hoop year at Ohio (for both women and men). Coach Boldon will have the ladies prepared and has given them a challenging OOC schedule, including an away game at Michigan and a home game with Illinois.

Go OHIO

Nice.

That's how you do it.

That's leadership head coaching right there.

Stub, do you know if she's the daughter of the coach of the WNBA LA team?

Unfortunately I haven't gotten the chance to see the girls practice yet this season, but I imagine they look good. Talking with Bob yesterday, he seemed in an upbeat mood. He's excited for this non-con schedule, he said it's the toughest he's had since he's been here.

KB's absence will hurt, Lexie too, but many haven't seen Agler play. I'm a big fan of the player she is. Chatting with some other peers around the MAC, some feel Kiki will be the strongest case for MAC Player of the Year. I imagine these two will be the focal point on the floor.

Though the loss of one the greats to wear an Ohio uniform, there's a lot of reasons to be excited about this team.

Stub, thanks very much for the analysis. One question about the above. Shouldn't it be "originally committed to WVU . . ."? Signing a high school sophomore would be violation of NCAA rules would it not?
