MAC Release

CLEVELAND -- The Ohio men's basketball team has been selected to play on television seven times in 2016-17 as part of the Mid-American Conference's largest television schedule in conference history, the league office announced on Wednesday (Oct. 19).

The extensive package features coverage over 80 MAC men's & women's basketball contests that will be telecasted nationally & regionally on linear platforms in 2016-17.

The MAC men's & women's basketball package includes games that will be aired on ESPN2, ESPNU, Fox Sports 1 (FS1), CBS Sports Network (CBSSN), American Sports Network (ASN), Buckeye Cable Sports Network (BCSN) & Time Warner Cable Sports Channel (TWCS).

For the first time ever, both MAC Men’s Basketball Tournament semifinal games will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network.

There is a possibility of more league games being picked up for television depending on wild card selections that are determined 14 days prior to the game.

In addition to the MAC television package announced today, Ohio's Nov. 18 game at Georgia Tech in Atlanta will be televised on ACC Network Extra while its Dec. 10 game at Iona in New Rochelle, N.Y. will be streamed on ESPN3. Home games that are set to be streamed by Bobcat-TV Powered By ESPN3 will be announced at a later date.

The following is Ohio men's basketball's most up-to-date 2016-17 television/streaming schedule:

Friday, Nov. 18, 2016: Ohio at Georgia Tech, 8 p.m. ET (ACC Network Extra)
Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016: Ohio at Iona, 2 p.m. ET (ESPN3)
Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016: Milwaukee at Ohio, 7 p.m. ET (BCSN/TWCS/ESPN3)
Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017: Ohio at Buffalo, 7 p.m. ET (BCSN/TWCS/ESPN3)
Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017: Ohio at Akron, 7 p.m. ET (ASN/ESPN3)
Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017: Ohio vs. Toledo, 7 p.m. ET (BCSN/TWCS/ESPN3)
Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017: Ohio at Western Michigan, 6 p.m. ET (ASN/ESPN3)
Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017: Ohio at Miami, 7 p.m. ET (ASN/ESPN3)

Ohio posted 23 victories in 2015-16 -- including an 11-7 mark in conference play. The 2015-16 Ohio squad matched the 1998-99 team for the biggest turnaround in program history. The Bobcats improved by 13 wins under head coach Saul Phillips after posting just 10 victories in 2014-15. The 2015-16 Bobcats matched the 1982-83 team for the sixth-most wins in a single season in program history. After earning the No. 2 seed in the 2016 MAC Tournament presented by VisitMyrtleBeach.com and a bye to Cleveland, Ohio defeated No. 7-seeded Northern Illinois, 79-62, on March 10 in the quarterfinals before falling to No. 3-seeded Buffalo in the semifinals the following day, 88-74. The Bobcats made their 22nd postseason appearance in program history and advanced to the semifinals of the 2016 College Basketball Invitational after beating Albany in overtime in the first round, 94-90, on March 16 and knocking off UNCG, 72-67, on March 21 in the quarterfinals. Ohio's season ended two days later with a 77-72 defeat at the hands of Morehead State.

The Bobcats return 14 players from the 2015-16 squad, senior forward Antonio Campbell (Cincinnati, Ohio), senior guard Drew Crabtree (Marysville, Ohio), redshirt senior forward Kenny Kaminski (Medina, Ohio), senior forward Wadly Mompremier (Miami, Fla.), redshirt junior guard Jaaron Simmons (Dayton, Ohio), redshirt junior guard/forward Khari Harley (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.), junior forward Sam Frayer (Cincinnati, Ohio), junior guard Mike Laster (Detroit, Mich.), sophomore guard/forward Gavin Block (Lincoln, Ill.), sophomore guard Jordan Dartis(Newark, Ohio), sophomore guard James Gollon (Stevens Point, Wis.), sophomore forward Jaylin McDonald (Streetsboro, Ohio), sophomore forward Doug Taylor (Columbus, Ohio) and redshirt freshman forward Ellis Dozier (Sandy Spring, Md.).

Campbell was named a 2015-16 Associated Press Honorable Mention All-America selection, the 2016 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, a 2015-16 National Association of Basketball Coaches Division I First Team All-District 14 honoree and a 2016 First Team All-MAC pick. Simmons earned 2015-16 NABC Division I Second Team All-District 14 honors. The Second Team All-MAC selection's 275 assists last year went down as the most in both program and MAC history. Dartis garnered All-MAC Freshman Team selection for his efforts.

The Bobcats added two new faces for the 2016-17 campaign -- freshman forward Jason Carter (Johnstown, Ohio) and freshman guard Rodney Culver (Columbus, Ohio).

Ohio's 2016-17 schedule opens with a home exhibition game against Rio Grande on Nov. 5. The Bobcats host Southern on Nov. 12 in the 2016-17 regular season opener at the Convo. Ohio's 2017 MAC schedule opens on Jan. 3 at home against Western Michigan.

Ohio's 2016-17 schedule page has been updated with tip times and TV listings. All game dates and times are subject to change.

Not mentioned in our release but mentioned in the MAC release is that our home game against Kent has been moved from a Saturday to the prior Friday at 9PM to accommodate ESPNU. Problem is it's before semester classes start so there won't be many students around. Kind of a waste, but it wouldn't be basketball season without a game where we ask "why are they doing it this way?"

It was moved from the 7th to the 6th. And most likely will not have any effect on whatever student attendance there might have been....

Would have been nicer to have Kent scheduled here on the 14th when the Kent women's team is visiting so there would have been a double header with both Kent teams not Kent/Eastern...

At least we know about it now, rather than two weeks before.

Yes, more Bobcat sporting events can be seen in the stunning low definition broadcast of ASN and TWCS!

Our TWC is fine in terms of HD quality. It's the audio that is a little behind.

You should have seen the Miami football game broadcast on TWC. It was so awful. So, so awful.

Thank goodness for ESPN3, since none of those games listed are on anything one would call a functioning TV network. I don't get TWCSN (TWC isn't even available in this city, and that is awesome) or have anything around offering ASN, nor do I give a damn about either of those trash heaps. I thought that god awful TWCSN deal was supposed to ride off into the sunset with the expanded ESPN and the CBSSN deals?

I was busy in PA trying to round up votes for Clinton. This thing is starting to get too close for my comfort level.

"Home games that are set to be streamed by Bobcat-TV Powered By ESPN3 will be announced at a later date."

That's kinda weird. Isn't the idea that once our ESPN3 setup is up and running, EVERY home game not picked up by another network will be broadcast on ESPN3?

Was the video awful, or was it the guys pretending to provide commentary? I watched it on Time Warner Sports, at home on digital HD, and it was fine. I had to tune out the guys calling the game in favor of Russ & Rob though.

No, the video was completely and utterly awful. Watching TWCS on TWC and it went from wide screen to square and back and always in stunning low def.

Do you have a digital box/tuner? I guess an alternative is to have a Chromecast, or similar device plugged in and use ESPN3.
