CBS and John Rothstein reporting this week he was given a one year extension. I'm not sure what year it extends the deal to.

According to this, he had three more years left on his contract: http://www.bcinterruption.com/2016/8/16/12486576/boston-c...

That would make his original contract up in '19, so the extension would go through '19-'20.

I don't give two you know whats about any contract extension for the guy who took a team that returned EVERYONE from a Sweet 16 team and didn't just NOT make the NCAA Tourney but got run in the MAC championship game. He made Jon Smith hate basketball and held Tony back from his early development. If not for Nick Kellogg, TJ Hall, Rico Johnson and Travis Wilkins being such wonderful leaders we would not have had 20 plus wins their senior year. Boo to Christian and boo to any place he coaches.

All I care about is whether he's paid his buyout money...

OK....so we're back to this mindset? I hope you don't treat Saul with this mindset if he has a tough year in the next couple years.

(PS - I wasn't a JC fan either, but let's not forget to give Akron a little credit in that result)

This line of thought has been refuted so many times on here, I'm not going there. Beating a dead horse.

(hits the dead horse)

Ok I'm good.

On another note, I give props to his agent for taking Bates to the cleaners on this one. Otherwise Bates won't have a whole lot longer up there.

I'll hit the dead horse. I knew this team was dead in the water when I flew to Memphis to watch them get run by horrible and I mean horrible Josh Pastner. The team on the floor had no respect for Christian...zero. They turned their back to him on the court and in the huddle.

Please let me know when Christian records an ACC win. His agent is brilliant if he got an extension at BC. I'll enjoy watching OHIO get revenge against horrible Josh Pastner on November 19th in Atlanta. The team on the court that night will not turn its back to its head coach.

Just curious - what's horrible about Josh Pastner?

Dude was handed the keys to a Ferrari and didn't do much with it. He was on his way out before Georgia Tech hired him away.

I guess we'll find out. I'm in agreement with the last thing in that rant, and that's really about all it is, and that's to agree that by all accounts, he's a class act, and a good guy. While that doesn't produce results on the court, it does keep me from rooting against him. It's hard for me to root against good guys whose teams are struggling. It's easier to root against coaches who don't impress me as being a decent person.

When I say horrible...I'm not talking about what type of person he is. I just think he is terribly overrated. However, he doesn't hire assistant coaches who play golf and doesn't allow them too. Sorry, but that's a little weird.

The "no golf" thing IS very weird. I wasn't suggesting you said he was a bad person - sorry if it came across that way. I just wondered why he was "horrible". His record definitely has declined. GT should be an interesting change for him.

It's all good OU Country...I can see how I used the word "horrible" could mean different things. 7 of his last 11 recruits at Memphis transferred. I can tell you that GA Tech basketball fans aren't happy with this hire. And yes....I'm still bitter about how we flat out did not show up against his Memphis team a few years ago. I look forward to watching our boys beat him this year by double-digits.

I hope we beat them. I don't care by how much because it'll be a good win on the resume that will be good preparation for February and March.

Not hiring assistant coaches who play the wimp sport of golf is a big plus in my book! ;-)

Sounds like Pastner may be a winner at being paid to coach basketball, and a loser at life in general.

Boston College is a rough job. Go to boston.com and hit their sports page. BC isn't even a linked option. Celtics, Bruins, Patriots, Red Sox. BC?....

Not sure about Pastner being a 'loser at life' ...

Pastner was able to finish his degree in only two and a half years, taking as many as 33 units per semester.[8] He earned his bachelor's degree in Family Studies from Arizona in December 1998. He finished his master's in Teaching and Teacher Education in December 1999 before beginning work on his doctorate and starting his coaching career in 2000

Have to save this one. My son just took up the game. Seems obsessed with in for now....breaking down the mechanics and studying technique seems to be his approach. Have to let him and Love in on the fact they are in a wimp sport.. :)

It's really just something you do between sips of beer while socializing.
