Interesting article about Tony and the NBA draft process but the part that stuck out to me was that James Gollon had two surgeries (shoulder & hip) this offseason and is looking like he'll miss the entire season.

The other part that stuck out was that Tony sounds like he is getting in great shape.

It would certainly qualify as a medical redshirt if indeed he were redshirted again.

NO, his "need" for the 2nd red shirt would be the one needed to judge the eligibility for a 6th year. This first one, if from the beginning of the season is simply a redshirt.

Ok, a medical hardship would be if he started the season and got hurt in the first 30% of the season. Since he has his redshirt season available and cannot play, this is simply a redshirt. If he returns in 2017-18 season he will have 3 seasons to play 3. Now say he gets hurt in 2018-19 and misses that season, now you can apply for a 6th year. But as of right now, he clearly still falls under the 4 for 5 rule.

Is there any updated news on the possible redshirt? James is another guy I've been curious to see how he's developed since last year.

James has said himself on his own social media that he is sitting out this year.

With Darty, Jaaron, Laster, Culver and even Block and Harley, the wings were full anyways. I think James can get a little stronger and will benefit from some time to ease in, as opposed to last year when he was thrown in at times. He will be a Kretzer type by the time he's a junior.

I was thinking more in the respect that with so many athletes around him he will be a great Travis Wilkins type then. A guy who can handle the ball but will be outstanding taking kickouts and making deep shots. I was a huge T-Wilk fan and wish he was with us for four years. What a great person, human being and someone who really defined that group that overachieved with Nick, Ric, TJ, Jon, etc.
