I have to eat major crow because I never thought this would happen.

After being embarrassed defensively in the first two games, Kyrie completely turned his own series around and was lights out in Games 3-7. I argued he should have been the Finals MVP based on how well he played against the league's unanimous MVP of the regular season. His left hand layup while being fouled in the 4th quarter was a thing of beauty.

As well as Kyrie played, I have to think that Steph Curry's knee is bothering him a lot more than he lead on. He didn't have the same spunk after the injury, which truth be told is rather incredible because he was still Golden State's 3rd or 4th best player with the injury.

Still...gotta give the Cavs all the credit in the world. They played lights out defensively and LeBron led the way. I don't think I've ever seen that much emotion out of a team after a victory. This truly was a TEAM win. Not just a LeBron win.

I few years ago I told some friends and family that no Cleveland franchise would ever win a championship. I also didn't think LeBron would ever come back to Cleveland. Things change.

I agree that Curry had to be affected, but did you see his news conference last night? Major respect for how he handled it. He made zero excuses, shot down every question that hinted at injury. I have a lot of respect for that.

Unbelievable game, start to finish. What a crazy series, and it all seemed to turn when Draymond decided to hit a dude in the nuts. So stupid. Lebron and Kyrie were amazing in games 5-7, and don't forget how big Kevin Love's rebounds were last night. Also overshadowed a little, Love played pretty darn good D on Curry late in the game when he got stuck on him on a switch. Can't begin to imagine the party that ensued in Cleveland!

Still stunned that a Cleveland team actually won something!!! Way to go Cleveland!!

I don't know if Curry is hurt, he seemed more rattled than anything else. He hasn't seen defense like the CAVS have played against him the last 2 games. Maybe he's hurt but no sympathy from me-Cleveland din't have Kyrie and Kevin Love last year and no one felt sorry for the CAVS.

And agreed-it was good to see Curry and Green congratulate the CAVS players after the game; that was indeed good sportsmanship!

Love him or not love him, anyone who doesn't think that LeBron is the best basketball player in the world, and by a pretty wide margin, is not very wise.
As long as we're talking best player in the world at this time, I agree. Trying to compare "the best ever" is an impossible exercise.

Cleveland won a Championship.

I'm a bit rusty on the Book of Revelations.
But I do believe that's one of the signs of the coming apocalypse.

According to the sports reporters out here "Mistake on the lake,no more".

Now Great Lakes has to come up with a commemorative beer.

I'm not a Cavs fan, but I'm happy for my many Cleveland friends. I agree that while LeBron obviously was the MVP, the reason they were able to win was Kyrie. LeBron did what he does. Irving took his game to a level I've never seen before, at least not on a consistent basis. If Green had played Game 5, it might not have gone longer than that. His stupidity definitely helped open the door for the Cavs. Then the injury to Bogut is probably a lot bigger than people realize. It's easy to overlook how good he is because of all of the other stars the Warriors have. But as stated, that's basketball. Things can change quickly, and it's not always fair. Cleveland has more than it's share of things turn against it in the past.

This is where I am. As a Cincy sports fan, it's a strange feeling being happy that Cleveland won something, and as you said, it's not really about the Cavs as much as it is my friends from Cleveland.

It seems to me (a mostly non-NBA fan) that the Warriors won last year's title against a really banged-up Cavs team, and the Cavs won this year against a banged-up (and once suspended) Warriors team. Maybe next year we can see them both at full strength?

Same here-lots of my Bobcat buds are Cavs fans. Unless someone is still sore about the Royals (now Kings) leaving town decades ago there is really not a jealousy element either.

Now if it was the Indians or especially the Browns I may have become physically ill. ; )

Hopefully this carries over into another certain team from the state of Ohio winning its first conference championship, with a different type of ball, since the 60s? = D

"LeBron did what he does." is both true and one of the great understatements ever.

Wait until the Cubs win the NL pennant this year. I think you'll have to check the apocrypha to find out the eschatological significance of that!

Meanwhile, congratulations Cavs!

Iconic play. Might not be "the greatest" but when they rank the TOP NBA Plays of all time - its in the conversation. Congratulations, Cleveland. Pigs Fly on a chilly day in Hell! Cubs have next! (not sure about the Browns and the Bobcats - but we can all dream a little while basking in the Cavs Glory)

GREAT WAY OF PHRASING IT!! Not sure if it's the greatest play (one could argue that perhaps it wasn't even the most important play the CAVS made in the 4th quarter, i.e. Lebron's 3 made free throws he hit previously, Kyrie's 3 point shot made with a minute remaining) were just as important, but they don't stand out nearly as much as LeBron coming out of nowhere to swat that shot away.

That play is perhaps the most ICONIC or emblematic play made by the CAVS.

As a combo of physical skill, intelligence, vision and will in a key moment, The Block is pretty much unparalleled.

I rightfully took heat here for scoffing that there was some high school kid who the Cavs should pray that got in the draft because he'd change everything. No way any kid could do that. No way.

I was 100% wrong.

That kid since the age of 19 carried a franchise and pretty much the league.

LeBron.

Definitely LeBron.

No doubt it was great, but LeBron has made much more impressive plays. It was more hustle than anything spectacular athletically. It was a lot like this block: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QJ4iwqnLKc It wasn't a game 7 of the NBA Finals but the Pistons might not have won the title that year without it.

Sorry. That Tayshaun Prince block is a beauty. I loved watching his game.

But 7th game NBA Finals by a guy who played exhaustive minutes and put up huge all around numbers.

Plus, Tayshaun was more or less in ready position to block that one. LeBron had to turn around up court and haul his huge body about 70 feet to get to that one.

Tayshaun's was great.

LeBron's immortal.

LeBron is immortal.

I'm betting that a pretty good The Tribe team gets an attendance/interest boost from carryover from the Cavs.

I've seen people say suggest that, but the Indians' attendance for the last three games (since the Cavs' title) has been 13,811, 15,629 and 21,216. Yesterday's attendance, which I assume include some people who may have stuck around for the game after the parade, was the only one over their last-place average attendance of 16,656. Maybe next homestand will be different.

What is it about the Tribe that results in such lackluster attendance? I know they aren't winning in the ways that they did 20 years ago, but they still manage to put a respectable team on the field more years than not.
