The Redhawks will have a lot of new faces this winter. Eight new freshmen.

I'm kind of surprised they would recruit this way. Why not leave a couple scholarships for next year to promote a little balance? On the other hand, they could redshirt a couple players to accomplish the same effect.

I honestly believe this will be the worst Miami team any of us have ever seen. Eight freshmen, the only senior is a transfer from Otterbein who played in only five games and scored 0 points, not one point guard. Their highest returning scorer averaged less than six points a game.

Yeah and reviewing the talent they had coming in, not a lot of interest in those guys from other programs.

I'm thinking they are just using the best they could get their hands on. They are playing almost blindfolded going into the season. They don't know who's gonna be worth playing and who's not.

And, its rather likely that they'll have a new coaching staff next year along with half the current roster choosing to transfer out. What a potential disaster going on there for a once proud program.

I was going to say something similar. This is it for Cooper if he doesn't win. He doesn't have the luxury of next year.

It's an interesting thing to consider. On one hand, they don't want to wreck all the commits that they have for this year so they kept him (I'm assuming). On the other, the (presumably) new head coach will be inheriting a rather large roster of guys that aren't his guys unless half of them transfer. Either way, they're in a tough spot unless this recruiting class turns out 4-5 pretty solid players.

They seem to have their fair share of rather bad hires in the major sports lately. It does feel good to beat them so regularly. Everything sort of runs in cycles it seems.

good grief, what a disaster. Miami hired Cooper in 2012 and signed him to a 5yr contract (through May 2017). The buyout for termination in years 4 and 5 is $250K.

here's Cooper's record through 4 seasons at Fiami-

2012-13: 9-22(3-13) 6th in MAC East
2013-14: 13-18(8-10) 4th in MAC East
2014-15: 13-19(8-10) 5th in MAC East
2015-16: 13-20(6-12) 5th in MAC East

why on earth was he not fired at the end of last season? I can't find any record of a contract extension being offered so it looks like he's going into this season a lame duck. why would u do this? WHY?

You're making the error of assuming that 8 players are going to spend 4 full years in Oxford.

Might as well fill the roster.

I misread the topic; I was going to comment that Fiami had plenty of class---most of it third.
