Take down UT Martin 72-55 with a strong 2nd quarter as they did in their opening win.
On offense they like to push but need to take better advantage of 3 on 2 breaks and learn to close. And they love the 3! Chucked up 40 today, only made 10 but made up for it going 10/10 from the charity stripe.
Solid D for this early in the season, able to close off the ball with good weak side help.
First time I’ve seen them this year and my first look at 3 newbies:
Amani Burke is the real deal. She squared up nicely on a 3 and made a sweet baseline drive and hesitation bank shot.
Taylor Agler, plays under control, showed a nice court awareness and pass delivery.
Katie Barker sat out frosh year with an injury. Moved well today and showed a quick release and shooting touch.
Home to Northern Kentucky Monday at 7.

Chucked up 40....I love it.
Women tend to be better shooters...odd that they only connected with 10 at home.
Talke3d with a HS coach yesterday about shooting. No one on his staff actively breaking down shooters.... I think to myself how many staffs at the collegiate and lower level have NO shooting critique and instruction. If they just make 4-6 more 3s per game where does that take their scoring? Hope the trend toward building better shooters continues to spread.
Loved watching this team at home last time I got to see them play.

I am very surprised to read that shooting instruction is not widely practiced...in a game in which a reasonably large part of the object is to shoot well!
I'm not close to these things but I'd think there be millions of supposed shooting gurus out there, with charlatans aplenty looking for the fast bucks.

Sad but real....
We have been asking this question for a decade now....started in earnest at OU when TOS was coaching and I asked "who screwed up your shot?" and had to rebuild it from ground up the summer of 08...then I started really concentrating on who is coaching shooting at every level..... look at any staff and break down who is coaching shooting. It's a vacuum. I can go down any list and look at it ...UD, Illinois, WVA, UVa...any school trying to figure it out. There is some big money out there. Taking an NBA player and being able to make him a shooter when all he has to do is take time and instruction to make him a better player.
But I digress.
Back to Ohio Women...this is going to be a fun year. Gooing to pencil in MAC tourney this year and take time to enjoy them.
