Dear Bobcat Attack posters,
I've contemplated signing up for this site ever since I graduated. Now that I am in Europe and so far away from anything green and white I finally decided to cave in. I'm sure I am the first former player to sign up on here and actively engage in OU banter but I figure why not? My time at OU was the most amazing experience I've ever had and now that I am far from Athens I would love to keep up and engage in some good Ohio U. talk on here. You guys were always a great motivating factor for me while I was in college. Anytime I needed some inspiration in my earlier days all I had to do was get on here, type my name in and start scrolling. There was always some good motivative material! lol But seriously, it's great to be on here and I hope to be able to catch up on some hoops talk as well as Bobcat talk. The team is looking great so far, as we expected, and I believe they will continue to progress as the season unfolds. Go Bobcats and God bless Bobcat Nation!
From across the water,
Treg Setty

I don't know how you players put up with us wacko fans. I was a Treg Setty skeptic turned convert. Wish we had another year of you in the green and white. Thanks for everything you did here. Stay safe and have a blast over there.

As obsessed fans, it is always awesome to know a player loves the school as much as we do. Setty became a fan favorite for a lot of good reasons, but his clear love for the school was one of top ones to me. I'd love to get some insights from a former Bobcat great as often as possible.

Great to hear from you Treg! Once a Bobcat....ALWAYS a Bobcat! You'd be proud of your former teammates the first two games of the season. Just know that your contributions while here have helped to set the foundation for some great things to happen in Athens in the years to come.

Welcome Treg.

On the football site, the most welcome posts are from excat - who played a few years back. As fans, we can't match the knowledge and experience. Look forward to your insights.

Now the first important question....how the waffles?

And Q. 2 - Sponsored by Stella - sweet - free beer after the games?

Welcome aboard "Setty, Setty, Setty,..."

Made me think of a one of the greatest experiences I ever had in 40 years of Bobcat basketball fandom. Your last game in the Convo. I was sitting/standing near your dad as you got to the 30 pt game basket - it was so great to see your dad so happy and proud.

That was a great career capping accomplishment. Only a Very Small percentage of Bobcat players have Ever scored 30 in a game.

Hope all is going well in Belgium!

My GGGgrandfather moved from Belgium and settled in the Athens area. Glad to see you have finally rebalanced the globe by moving to Belgium.

Treg, welcome aboard. Rumor has it there are some former players, staff lurking on B.A. I think it would be interesting for fans to hear from you regarding the type of basketball that you are seeing in the league you are in. Could you give us a snapshot of the quality of competition etc etc ? Any web sites we can follow to keep up with you and your team ?

Belgium is a really cool place. The food is good although there is not as much of it. They eat lots of soup, bread, pasta, etc. Belgium is a very small country and my city, Leuven, is right in the very center. So, when traveling, the farthest we ever go is about an hour and thirty minutes. It's nice not to have to travel so much, long bus rides makes for an achy back when you are a six niner. The architecture here is what I enjoy the most. Huge buildings and castles are all over the place here. It is truly very beautiful. So far we have travelled to France, Germany, Amsterdam, and the Netherlands. I hope to visit London and Paris as well as other places whenever I get the free time.

Basketball here is very different with as much emphasis on very as possible. For instance, if you catch the ball and do not come down on two feet before dribbling then they whistle for a travel. They call more travels here than anywhere I've ever been. Taking a charge here is next to impossible and there is no blocking call. If you attempt to take a charge and they think you flopped then they just give you a technical. As you can imagine, I've had my fair share of flopping technicals so far. It amazes me that one facet of my game that I took so much pride in while in college (taking charges) is now turning me into the Rasheed Wallace of Belgium with all of these T's. Referee's here have a quick trigger with the technical fouls and they are very confrontational with you. They will puff up their chest and look at you as if to say "try me" or "I wish you would." I never thought I would appreciate American officiating as much as I do now.

The competition is very good. I would compare it to high mid major ball. Mountain West, A10, etc. There some teams in our league who are very very good, some of the better teams in Europe. And there are other teams that are not quite as good but still very competitive. We played against Seth Tuttle, who played at Northern Iowa, a couple weeks ago as he plays with a team here in our league. We had a good conversation before the game reminiscing on our game in Athens a few years ago. We are 3-5 so far on the season. We've lost some tough games but have battled hard so far. It's been a fun experience thus far and here's to hoping it stays on course. God bless you all and thanks for all of the kind words and welcomes.

Until next time, Bobcat Nation!

Have fun in Europe and keep working your way up. There are some former Bobcats in Germany, I believe.

Great to hear from you, Treg. Enjoyed watching you play. You gave it your all every single time you stepped on the floor. I hope you're able to keep track of this season's team. There's definitely a part of you that's still here. You're seeing the world and playing ball. Good luck to you.
