Defense can win games, and that was the case last night at the Convo as Ohio (3-0) took care of Northern Kentucky 58-41. The Cats played shut down defense causing 28 turnovers and garnering 9 blocks. Fortunately the defense showed up because the offense didn't. NKU stymied them with a 3-2 zone with some variations and Ohio couldn’t find open outside shots and was forced to play a lot of one on one with limited success. Ball movement was slow and predictable. I can’t remember so many layups being missed in a game, including a few uncontested ones. Fortunately, Kiki Lampkins was on her offensive game but got little support. She left a few defenders at the concession stand with her head and body moves.
