I know a few folks have stopped and played basketball at this gym. Thought I would share with those the Vimeo post that came out. Still open daily and just a few miles off I 70 for anyone going east/west. Bring your own ball and Chucks.

Great video. Right on the old National Rd (old Rt 40). And not very far from the Indiana Basketball HOF. An easy one day visit to both. Should really be on any BBall fans top of the "bucket list" (there is a potential pun there) Must See/Visits.....

We had every intention of going there last winter when we met up with you after the game at Hinkle. Needless to say, we *may* have enjoyed parts of Broadripple a little too much for a Sunday morning stop off.

Yes, you can even schedule exhibition basketball games there for your high school or youth teams.

It is not unusual to see a team from Illinois, Nebraska, Wisconsin or elsewhere there playing against each other and a sign on the door saying hte gym is reserved ....stillcan walk through or sit in the stands and watch as coaches teach the game in a very hallowed setting. Pretty cool to see actually.

So here is the idea. Next year we play Purdue in football. Many if not most Bobcat fans will be coming from the east on I 70. Why not have a Bobcatattack event at the gym. We could do pick up games or simple contests like free throw shooting on 3 point shooting. I'd include a slam dunk contest but, well, ... Anyway, I know for a fact our crew will be stopping on the way to Purdue. The game time of the football game will dictate to certain extent what we could do. Any takers?

Name the time and place and I will be there. If there are any takers we can arrange a local catered dinner or lunch http://www.mancinosofnewcastle.com / with the director of the Indiana HS Basketball in the board room with HOF http://www.hoopshall.com/main/visit-the-museum / director Chris May, and a quick tour before heading down the Old National Road to K Town to the gym. May have to work on FT's. Was at 89% before shoulder surgery...no matter what I shot the kid would best me...ridiculous....student got to school the teacher on a regular basis...

Will do. As soon as the time of the Purdue game is announced, we can give it a go. I know McKinney and McKinley will be in for the free throw contest.

New documentary at the HOF. We will have to make a little room in the schedule to watch. I will ask the Director if we can order lunch in and watch the movie while we eat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iU1wfinpNBM&feature=youtu.be Trailer for film in the HOF theater https://www.facebook.com/INHoopsHall/videos/1015435197243... /

Latest offering from The HOF here.

Great story. Tommy was in the Delta System and was the same age as the author who penned this. I am sure he can tell you about the State Finals game in much the same way. Way of life here as he is 4th gen Hoops. He will tell you about Petey Jackson who later played at Balls and his memory of that season at Delta.... as he becomes one of us in the barber shop who remember it like yesterday. I used to think all those old farts recalling games of days gone by were crazy...now I am one.

Good Read on Hoops in the Heartland . Grab a cup of coffee, a cinnamon roll and enjoy

Slightly off topic but I bet the people in Fort Wayne are going crazy tonight over beating the powerhouse IU.

I don't know how I missed this but I wouldn't definitely be up for some hoops in the Hoosier gym. Great idea Alan!

@BenBotts is one of the asst coaches who played on 2 state runner up w TOmmy. His Twitter timeline is blowing up. Coach hit a home rum in humility saying thanks to Tom Crean sincerely for coming. Said "this is something that never happens" in Mid major ball. IU has a HUUUUUUUUUGGGGE following in Ft Wayne. Tickets sold out in 40 mins. to root for IU.....ooops. Played at the Coliseum which is not IPFW's home court. THe rebrand to Ft Wayne seems to be complete....IU pulled out support last year and left PU to run it... despite Faculty Senate objections so they are now using Ft Wayne on all unis. The elephant in the room is IUPUI as they both keep a tight rein on that campus as they both believe if it is Independent it will become another tO$U being 3 blocks from the State Capitol on prime Real Estate

Did not realize there was a game in there till I got to work and spam filters and blockers were off. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTjWygFuA2c#t=28 Wow. Fun to go back once you have been in the crowd. Last year of the one class championship. Hoosier Dome is gone now but we filled her up.
