Boys and girls, hear me now. Coming off of a pitiful performance at Iona, if we can't best this group of hacks ( soundly ) at home, something is drastically remiss. Any argument?

Yes. First, the performance at Iona as a whole wasn't "pitiful". The last 5-6 minutes of play weren't the best, but the rest of the game, in my opinion, OUr guys played pretty darn well.

Second, Milwaukee aren't a "group of hacks". Of their six losses, four are on the road. The other two are to potential NCAA Tournament teams in south Dakota State and ETSU.

That said, I'd agree this is a game Ohio should, and most likely will win.

Based on the numbers, it appears that the Panthers run a lot of guys out on the court. Ten players getting about 9 1/2 minutes a game, with just two averaging 30ish a game.

^ I see what you did there OU_Country. The Panthers' roster has many accounting, finance and marketing majors. Nicely done. :-)

WOW, OU-Country , what was Milwaukee's best win? Was it holding UC Irvine to 37 points? Your rose colored glasses are failing you drastically. Any college team which can only score 37 is a secondary hack. WOW!!

So you are holding the fact that they held a team to 37 points against them?

plenty of argument. first, our performance at Iona was not pitiful. Your over-reaction to a road loss vs a solid team, however, is. Second, Milwaukee is not a group of hacks, you sound like a Buckeye fan.

Horizon league is very close to the MAC. playing Milwaukee and Cleveland State should prepare us for hard fought MAC style games. Forget the records these are grind it out style teams like the rest of the MAC.

I most often wear Green colored glasses, thank you.

Their best win according to RPI is that UC Irvine win. I don't think a 3-6 team is always a bad team. I wouldn't call this Milwaukee team a good one at this point. They've been a pretty good program in past seasons though. In the end, I just prefer not calling a group of 18-22 year old's a "group of hacks".

I initially was put off by the "hacks" reference and wrote a somewhat terse reply (as I oft do and almost always delete) as most D1 athletes by nature are not hacks and certainly do not earn their schollies by being such. Think about it all the kids playing grade school basketball get winnowed out at the middle school level then get further winnowed down at the successive Frosh, JV and Varsity levels. There are 340 ish D1 schools that need 3 ish athletes a year for hoops. 1000ish players a year from around 200, 000 graduating HS senior basketball players are able to grab a D1 scholly. Not much room for hacks.

When someone in the stands calls a D1 player or a team of them playing for a 1st year coach "hacks" I think ....what a bad reflection on our fans. We are hopefully a bit better than that. Kind of reminds me how arrogant I thought Kansas was pregame when we played them and they could be heard telling our players some pretty demeaning and derogatory stuff. May be true but they person running their mouth looks like a classless idjut.

Bornacatfan, your pontification is duly noted. I was a high school basketball coach of some note and statewide achievement. I feel as though you imply that I am some beergutted fan looking to criticize our good men.
You could not be more wrong. I am merely assessing our status at this stage.
We can/should still be VERY good.
It will start (hopefully) with us mopping up our home court against those hacks tomorrow.

I am not pontificating. I * always * assume anyone this board is smarter than me. I assume Johnny Wooden himself is reading before I answer any question or make any comment.

If you are indeed a coach then you know what it takes to be a D1 player. Calling them hacks from that position is really puzzling.

I don't care if they're hacks or not. This is a 4-6 team from a decent but lesser conference than the MAC. If Ohio can't win a home game against them, it is cause for legitimate alarm.

I thought the word "hack" was referring to the posters (myself included) on this board. ;-) Now, to the subject at hand, I fully expect a 20-point win tonight for two main reasons: 1. We are at home. 2. We will be made as hornets to prove the last two outings were flukes. 3. Milwaukee ain't that good. [Note Monroe-like arithmetic 2=3.]

I sure hope we don't have any more pitiful performances against hacks or non-hacks and our status at this stage gets a lot better.

Thankfully Time Warner feed coming in loud and clear. This is the same University of Milwaukee team that Bruce Pearl once coached isn't it?
