This was from GA Tech's website previewing the OHIO game. I have all of the respect in the world for #5, but I suggest the person who wrote this article google: GARY TRENT #goat

In two months, OHIO beats this ACC school and it will be fun to watch.

Greatest player in program history

D.J. Cooper -- The Michigan Wolverines got the best of Ohio back in March of 1964, but almost 50 years later the Bobcats exacted long overdue revenge with the help of Bobcat legend D.J. Cooper. Cooper led the 13th-seeded Bobcats to the Sweet 16 in 2012, sending Michigan and South Florida home early. Individually, Cooper holds school records for career assists (934), steals (327), games started (139) and is fourth all-time in scoring (2,075 points). Cooper is the only player in the history of NCAA Men's Division-1 Basketball to score over 2,000 points, record at least 900 assists, pull down more than 600 rebounds and surpass 300 steals in a career. A three-time first team All-MAC selection, Cooper was involved in more victories (94) than any other player in school history.

Urbana, that is about as bad as it gets in d2. If you have ever seen their gym you would wonder how they recruit anyone. The school was bankrupt and the only reason it stayed open was because it was bought out by Franklin University. I guess the keep the original name because of the historical ties to John Chapman.
McKinney, your thoughts?
When McKinney refuses to comment on an opponent, that is a sure tell sign the program is in bad shape. He refuses to acknowledge the negative in any opponent, so his silence is simply his way of avoiding it.
Well I'll have to admit that Urbana's 2-26 record last season isn't fear-inducing. However, they produced a team GPA last semester of 2.83, nothing to sneeze at. This indicates they are a cerebral bunch. We play them on Dec 30, which means it's a classic trap game. Face it, Ohio will be their Super Bowl, while we may overlook them since we will just be getting back in Athens after the holidays. I wouldn't sleep on this bunch. Plus Athens is closer than most of their road games in West Virginia, so Urbana just might have a nice-sized contingent of fans.

Anyone care to guess how TOS will be received in the Convo? Cheers? A few boos? Students having no clue who he is?? I tend to think there will be some scattered cheers but nothing tremendous.
If the Ozone has it together we should hear some "Ohio, Ohio, and Ohio", and some "That's life on the road" cheers/jeers...... :)
There had certainly better be someone who comes up with a "That's life on the road" sign within the Ozone. I'll cheer him. He (and his team) gave me two weeks in March of great memories.
Someone also needs to make a sign asking if TOS has learned to make a layup yet. That Ohio video with him in the background missing a half dozen layups in a row was absolutely hilarious (and sad).

Also PLEASE make a sign asking who's the next NBA talent he's recruiting - signed Marin Bota.

At first I thought that this was Fake Jeff satirizing the real Jeff, but then I discovered that it was the Real Jeff himself. I know he doesn't do drugs, but maybe it's that Jackson County water. ;-)

I'm waiting for Fake L.C. on the football board. One could make up all kinds of fake stats and then use them for humorous comparisons. Fake Alan Swank would also be s hoot.

-I'm pretty confident in saying that I don't think Ohio Athletics schedules to accommodate potential alumni area's when looking for a strong basketball or football schedule. I think they're more worried about getting solid schedules.
This mindset is very short-sighted. Growing the fanbase has obvious long-term benefits for the program. These considerations should not be ignored.

I don't disagree with you at all. I just don't think this is something that is being done when scheduling. I have no real insight here, it's just my gut feeling If it were, we'd be playing more games against the likes of Wright State, Duquesne, Robert Morris, and certain east coast schools where there is alumni concentration. The thing of it is, short of the MAC Tournament, how many alumni would truly come out if OU were playing in their area? I just don't think that a large number of our alumni would take time out of their week on a Wednesday night if Ohio were playing within an hour of their city. On a Saturday, yeah, you'd get more, but the reality is we have a ton who just don't care about Ohio sports. If they did, we could play Wright state and have half the arena be Bobcats.
Fair points, but I do think the alumni chapters would appreciate the event factor and reason to rally local alumni to get together pre-game. I would also think the players would like seeing a nice base of fans show up in areas like DC, Chicago, Cincy, Pittsburgh, etc.

Yep

Cooper, Keely, Baltic: 22, 19, 29, 24 = 94
Kellogg, Hall, Johnson: 19, 29, 24, 25 = 97

There were like 100 Ohio fans when we played at Portland in 2011. There actually is a Portland alumni chapter. The Denver chapter rallied very quickly to get alumni to the NIT game out there.

I'm calling it right now. Ohio beats Georgia Tech. Couldn't ask for a better date. A fall Friday night in Georgia during High School football season? There will be nobody at this basketball game. Crowd will be zero factor. I look forward to watching Josh Pastner lose this one....we owe him big time. #RememberMemphisDebacle

Edit: I will also go on record and say OHIO wins this game by double-digits.
Think it's good time to bring this one back. Should have been a double-digit win, but I'm not complaining. It was great to see it in person. #SaulBall

Good call. Never underestimate the ability of Pastner to wheedle, whine and moan his way to a closer game. Slimy lil bitch. Ick. I hate that our guys had to go through the line after the game. Fearful some of that will actually rub off.

Good one Born. As long as the fellas showered after the game, they left the Pastner stench in the ATL.
