We scored 1 point in the last 4:34, not good. You cannot win playing like that
FADEAWAY THREES...those are killers. And I am talking about us. When Groces teams were off they attacked. This team just keeps shooting outside

Uhg. Not a lot to like in that game. All our flaws on offense exposed in the second half in this one.

Man, lazy and sloppy with the bad fouls. When will Kaminsky round out his game and play inside a little bit? Block and Dartis disappointing.

I thought Dartis was supposed to be a lockdown defender but he was olay all night. Culver needs to just play D and never shoot. Block is definitely not filling Tregs shoes even at a 50 percent clip. He takes charges and passes thr ball. And Kenny is Kenny. Tone hurt his stock by coming back so far. This team feels like Tyler and Beaus final football season. Pumped in preseason but now just blah. Still hoping for an effort turnaround.

My memory is that, more often than not, most outside shooters resort to what they know best or what they think gets them back in the game the quickest. Not saying I disagree with the concept of getting 2 when you can to give you better 3 ball opportunities but don't think this long ball is unique to Saul Ball.

I was hoping for an exciting year in BB. Now I am thinking that the excitement might be more about close finishes instead of the excitement of consistent good play. We shall see.

Go Cats.

Wouldn't you say that a lot of that was DJ Cooper though? Also, Groce's teams were built differently defensively, which was something they excelled at in the NCAA Tourney runs. Don't forget, both of those years started out pretty bumpy before they got to be really good at the end.

FearLeon, most of this board does not want to go on the road and play UCLA and Washington. They think there is no merit in that unless we get a home game back. We all know that winning the MAC is the thing. Losing this game means nothing. Lots of games yet to play.

I'll highlight OU_County's sentiment, all these journey's are bumpy and by no means do I consider this year lost. These guys hit on all cyclinders come March, they could go on a run. Like I've posted a half dozen times, when things are clicking in this style of play--it's fun to watch. When they're not, it's not (then again, that probably can be said for most teams). I just hate that we have nowhere to turn to but contested 3's late in games, then again this seems to be the kind of guys were recruiting consistently, so it's the nature of the beast.

WKU's strategy to get back in the game was simple. Dribble-drive as fast to the rim as possible. Then that would result in:
A) a high % shot
B) a foul call and free throws
C) if the defense comes over to help, kick it to the open man

I kept wondering when Saul was going to go zone to put a stop to it but he didn't. He let Stansbury outcoach him. Ohio should have won by 10 to 15.

(and a zone D would have prevented TC from getting in foul trouble)

To my knowledge, since he's been here Saul has never once played a zone D. I don't know about 10 to 15 though. WKU played a solid game and deserve some of the credit.

A 2-3 zone with Tony C. not playing in the middle would have kept him off the bench and WKU away from the rim. And not being in foul trouble, he could have been more aggressive on the offensive boards, maybe get some put-backs, maybe an "and-1" or so.

When a team shoots 29 3's hit only 8 with only 3 offensive rebounds means only critical problems for the offense. They need a vacation.

Groce's teams played defense. That's why they won in march. This team hasn't showed ability to play even close to that kind of defense. The only way they'll win is by hitting 12 to 15 3ptrs a game in march.

Zero toughness. Frontrunners. Play great when going is good (see 21-4 vs WKU)...but as soon as a team punches them in the mouth or shows some resistance, they fold. No a good trait...especially in march
