I heard a voice that sounded just like him calling some D-league NBA game. Is there any chance it was actually him?

He does call other games from time to time for IMG on a fill in basis. I think he and Rob C called an NIU game a couple weeks ago.

I can confirm he's still calling BBall games. He came over to say hi to a former footballer seated in front of us in Atlanta

while listening to this D-league game , was there any chance you heard the announcer say "BANG !!" "BOOK IT !!" "BANG !! .. Oh BABY what a BIG TIME play"
"titanic struggle" or discuss their day's workout i.e. chest and tri's ..

If none of these were heard it wasn't the voice of the BOBCATS !!

BANG !! .. Oh BABY what a BIG TIME Russ impersonator this sounds like !!

This is true Danny.... Russ has developed his own inimitable style...one that is MUCH underappreciated by our own listening populace. I listened to him in one ear while attending a HS game Friday night. He alluded to going old school with the broadcast but it was not lost on me how far we have come... from Warren Swain less than a decade ago to present. We had a brief regression as the TV product took us back for a moment to errors in names of players. I would not have had any problem with Russ and Rob going over to the TV production but it would have meant those folks relying on "color and pictures" being painted on the radio would have suffered. We are very fortunate that Russ, with his Soundcloud and media offerings pregame, has not headed off to bigger and more lucrative pastures.

The Coaches shows have been a delight for those that take the time to listen and get an inside look at the individual athletes.

I am thankful he is here and hope that when he gets a bigger break and leaves that we can find someone who adds to our University experience as well and is as forward advancing.

For me, missing a game is not as bad as it would be if I couldn't listen to Russ. He does a great job of painting a picture of both the game and the atmosphere. I also enjoy the past game interviews and missed them during tournament time when the head coach is committed to the tourney TV arrangements.

I am biased but I gotta believe he will have an opportunity for a bigger stage. If he wants it, I hope it happens for him.

By the way, I am wearing an Ohio Sweatshirt of grey and green with black UA workout pants.

Took a quick look at the schedule and 17 of 29 games are on ESPN 3. That means for some games we only get IMG. I love Russ and Rob! They make the Athletic Program better and the basketball broadcasts are very professional.
Here are the radio only games after the first of the year. (I should make all the pre-conference games)
1/6 Kent State
1/21 NIU
1/28 BGSU
2/11 Ball State
2/14 EMU
2/25 Kent State
In the end, I really enjoy Russ' style. I think we'll really miss him when he takes the next step.
