OU women trounced Buffalo 83-55 getting a big slice of revenge for the three losses the Beefs handed them last year. In the first quarter, the Cats held them to 0% shooting from the field and only 2 free throws.
Great team defense all around and Katie Barker was 6-10 from three in about 13 minutes on the floor. Boldon even smiled once.
Pretty much sets the tone for the MAC.

I watched a lot of the game. The Bobcats almost always shoot tons of 3-pointers, and they made tons of 3-pointers in this game. Buffalo's defense was always a rotation slow, so Ohio got some really good looks to contribute to that shooting.

It’s worth going to ESPN3 and watching the recast of this dominating effort. At least check out quarter 1 for the defensive effort as the Cats held Buffalo without a field goal, 17-2. Qtrs. 2 & 3 were even, back and forth scoring (we hit 9 3's) then the Cats close the deal, taking no prisoners in a 4th qtr. 23-11 blowout.

A complete game and everyone contributed (5 in double figures) as the defense was tight and aggressive, keeping Buffalo out of their system and creating turnovers (19).

Defense won the game and outside shooting made it a blow out.

OHIO has been raining (but not draining) 3’s all season until last night. Boldon had them ready for the expected zone, moving the ball and finding the open shot, too late for the Beef defenders. They never came out of the zone and paid for it all night long as 7 Cats nailed 3’s, the team going 14 for 26. Taylor Agler was 3 for 4 and Katie Barker comes off the bench with her ‘rainbow stroke’ and quick release, burying 6 of 11 from Richland Ave. Kiki Lampkins was everywhere all night long, along with Yamonie Jenkins and Jaz Witherspoon.

It was payback time.

Go OHIO!

Buffalo actually did switch out of the zone briefly, then went back to it. Man was no more effective than zone was for them, but they did switch out of the zone at least once.

Boldon has this group playing like a team. Love the energy. Love the teamwork. Love how deep we are. My hope is that Saul has us close to this soon.

I listened to the second half on the radio and it seemed like every three was going in. In the post-game Bob the Builder was clearly quite pleased, almost giddy, don't think I've heard him quite that happy before.

Appreciate you tuning in. I agree, that's the most cheerful I've seen Boldon since the MAC Tourney Title. He's got a great group of girls. Prepping for NIU tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. ET.
