Marshall's last 4 games-
L @Ohio St, 111-70
W Ohio, 98-88
L @EKU, 89-80
L @Chatt, 96-85.
Herd is giving up 96pts/gm over the stretch. Their next two games are v Toledo and @Akron.
Herd were up 8 at half on Mocs....and lost by 11
Again...I think that loss to MU is going to be one we'll wish we had back by year's end. I think Marshall will finish with winning record...but that's definitely one we let get away.
+1 we have to come to play and execute every game, especially with this schedule. Any chance of an at large bid is out the window at this point.
An At-large bid from the MAC, as we all know, is unlikely to begin with. That said, it absolutely is not out the window just five games and one loss into the season.
No...an at-large bid is not unlikely if you actually schedule like you want an at-large bid.
I've posted this previously....2012-13
at UMass
at Oklahoma
at Memphis
at Robert Morris
at Belmont
vs. Wofford
vs. Oakland
vs. UNC-Wilmington
vs. St. Bonnie
vs. Marshall
That's an at-large worthy schedule if you take care of business.
That team didn't...which is a shame because they were 14-2 in the MAC.
Couple that with a 12-2 out of conference schedule with that schedule....26-4....quality road wins....decent home OOC wins. You're in the discussion.
But....
at WKU
at Marshall
at Iona
at GT
vs. Milwaukee
vs. Tenn Tech
vs. Southern
vs. Sam Houston
vs. Cleve St
That doesn't register on the at-large richter scale. It's just a below-average schedule....especially with a team this talented.
I suspect you agree....not blasting you.
But it would just be nice to take some chances with our schedule when we actually have a team that has a chance to do something.
What's the point of not challenging yourself.....and going 26-4 and still have to win three nights in Cleveland against...
...challenging yourself....finishing 20-10 and still having to win three nights in Cleveland.
2012-13 schedule, even with the losses, was fun to watch Ohio play that competition. This season just feels like a pre-cursor leading up to the inevitable three nights in Cleveland.
