Without having watched this full game I could guess that all 20 of Gray's points have come from layups and I'd be close to correct. We are awful at stopping dribble pentetration and backdoor cuts tonight.

The sad part is EJ and Hadaway wouldn't have made a difference.

This is a horrific road team.

Still no word on Elmore James?
Robert Keegan on Twitter: An update from Ohio Athletics on the status of Elmore James:

"Elmore had taken a step away at the moment. He’s an integral part of our program, and we look forward to his return."
Unbelievable! Does this mean that he was smart enough to not want to play against Akron, but he'll be back the next time we play a creampuff?
Probably more of a “hey, Shereef beat up on Ball State. You’re coming off the bench again.” Which I think Elmore should start but that’s me.
Boals sending a message with Clayton on bench. Time to stop calling AJ a "star." He is a very good player. Elliott looking comfy at least.
My perception has been, and I told a fellow BAer this a few days ago, that Clayton is good at three-point shotoing in games against creampuffs, where we are heavily favored, but his percentage is way lower in higher-profile games. Perhaps, someone has actually stats on that, but that is my gut impression, and it's certain true tonight.

"Not sure if there's a better frosh in the MAC than Akron guard Sharron Young."

This kid is a great guard from Morgantown WV. Ohio missed the boat on this player.

Good GOD the smallest guy on the court for Akron just went through the laziest defense I've seen. Shareef is beside himself with the defense being played by his teammates.

He'll be getting some Bud Wentz money next year.

Hmm . . . just saw Elliot playing some good D. I like him. Think he'll be a major contributor before the season is over.

Elliot doesn't put a body on Grey or even jump and Grey grabs an offensive rebound over him.

We don't play like a well-coached team.

Then Ohio should have offered more NIL collective cash because this guy can play and doesn't even get 20 minutes a game.

He sure did. Just looked timid from the opening tip. Has to be embarrassed by his play and effort. He’s not the only one though.

Looking for a positive? Ohio came into the game hitting 73% from the line. The Cats kept the score respectful by making 30 of 33 tonight (90%).

Can't believe we only lost by 12. Until Clayton steps up and we find a better answer at PG, we'll just have to hope for a lucky run in March.

Reef and Elliott showed up. Not a single other player showed up. AJC was awful but Vegas Vic showed his weakness against true athleticism. Pavs and Sheldon looked bored and can WE FINALLY STOP SAYING AJ BROWN IS A STUD??????? Dude is opportunistic like AJC.

The Bobcats will be favored according to ESPN win percentage in all but the Miami and Kent road games. If ESPN win percentage is accurate, they will end up with the #1 seed heading into Cleveland.

Obviously two things to work on. Got to stop the give and go (maddening) and we must think rebounding after we put up a shot. If you’re having a cold shooting night, there are lots of rebounding opportunities if you crash the boards. You don’t need everyone to stay under but it would be nice if someone stayed behind

Betting against that would seem to be easy money at this point. For some reason, I've never been really high on this team. I can't put my finger on it precisely, as some of the individual parts look pretty good, but they just don't seem to have any chemistry. I think a month or so ago, I said that it appears to me the whole seems less than the sum its parts in this case. Maybe it's the coaching? Don't know. Just asking questions.
