Why is his picture not on the roster page? Is there a reason that we have not been told?

He was not on campus in the summer. I wouldn't worry... the team posted some pictures to Instagram recently and he commented that he can't wait to join.

Not sure, but I thought he was spending his summer in Australia?

If I remember my geography correctly, isn't Australia in winter during our summer ?

I'm not sure what to think about the 104 degree heat index predicted for Athens day after tomorrow. But... climate change is a hoax. I heard that on a.m. radio.

We're in a similar situation out here in NJ.

I don't disagree that the climate is changing.

Always has, always will.

Question is, how much of climate change is man made ?
No one seems to be able to objectively quantify that.
Plus, china and india are still building coal fired power plants, with no indication they're slowing down.

Also, don't forget,The polar ice caps are also melting on Mars.

I know this if getting a bit off topic but deadly heat waves and other extreme weather events make India one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change. So maybe there is a glimmer of hope they will change their ways. China? Not so much.

China has made it clear they intend to speed up, not slow down, the building of
coal fired power plants.

These are two countries whose populations are insane, and thus so is their energy demand (US still king of (wasted) energy per capita). not surprising they are building plants still, but China is also ahead of us when it comes to investment in renewables (as is everybody). I don't know about India, but eventually it will be adapt or die for everybody.

Interesting you talk per capita for consumption, but apparently switch to raw numbers on investment in renewable. Nobody on earth has spent more on renewable energy per capita in recent years than the US.

Kuany is probably dropping in and wondering where this thread went.

I don't want to sound like I think that I'm an expert because I am aware that I'm a blithering idiot on the subject but:

Mars ice caps are melting slowly melting over cycles that are thousands of years long due to cycles of orbitals eccentricity and axial tilt that also occur on Earth. Earth's I've caps are melting over decades. The climate on Earth has always changed but it is changing now at a rate hundreds of times faster.

We do know with high accuracy that most of the change is human activity. We know how various games absord and reemit infrared radiation. We can measure how this happens in every layer of the atmosphere. We can measure how the composition of gas changes with human release, how much gas is absorbed by the ocean, how much heat is absorbed by the ocean and land....

Yes, I know little but this is pretty basic.

Victory is correct.

We have lots of sensor data. With pretty good precision.

And we can compare that data to hand scribbles in books from at least 100's of years ago.

Plus, we can make some really good mathematical models that fit the data rather nicely. Don't worry your head about the extrapolation of that data either.

The sun is NOT changing.

The magnetic poles are NOT moving.

The models take all possible variables into account, with rigorous scrutiny from the government-funded scientific journal peer review process.

Just know man-made climate change is real. Hair spray is the likely cause for the ozone hole and cow farts and exhaling are melting the ice caps.

And don't forget, we will have serious global cooling by 1979 if we don't act immediately. The hockey stick in the data proves it. Al Gore told me.

P.S. Hope Kuany is enjoying his first few days/weeks with the team in beautiful Athens.

Actually the magnetic poles' are moving
We have to take that into consideration when we do surveys using true or magnetic North.

Remember when you said the Governor of Ohio should be put in jail for inciting panic because his estimate on Covid cases in March 2021 meant that 3,000 people in Ohio would die of Covid? And that that was "more people dead in Ohio than have this virus in the entire country"? And then 42,000 people died of Covid in Ohio?

I bet not.

No Alex Evans either, and he's no longer listed on the roster.

Whatever dude. You don't know. The fact that not only are they moving but the rate at which they are moving is increasing is a conspiracy theory.

North still points up on MY maps.

Changes and shifts in Earth's magnetic field polarity don't impact weather and climate for a fundamental reason: air isn't ferrous

As greenhouse gas emissions blanket the Earth, they trap the Sun's heat. Shifting of magnetic poles, is not the contributor of climate change.

Its called declination. When we do land surveys,
we have to adjust for the difference between magnetic and true north,
which changes every year.

The rate of declination increases as you get closer to the poles.
