LOL, funny stuff. A good 10 minute stretch against a team that didn't have their best player means that the Zips have a shot at cutting down the nets in April. Akron has a good shot at winning it all, unless, you know, Gonzaga and Creighton happen to show up.

How about we aim for losing an NCAA game by single digits before we shoot for winning it all.

In fairness, what I read was that they "showed why they are built not just to win the Mid-American Conference Tournament, but to win in the NCAA Tournament." It didn't say win the whole thing.

She's not wrong if they play like they did in that stretch, but this is definitely written to cater to the hometown fans.

Too bad Akron hasn't had any chances to prove they can compete in the NCAA tournament in the past...

Marla Ridenauer is actually a pretty good columnist. Not much left at the ABJ these days. Their beat reporter, George Thomas, makes Elton Alexander look like Mike Wallace.

Hard to argue with anything Marla white here. Zips are loaded this year and a lot closer to NCAA success than we are.

Maybe they can start with winning their first NCAA tourney game and go from there...

This isn't a bad article at all. No where in the article does she say they will win it all. She says they have a chance to go further in March then they have before, which would be winning one game.

She isn't even that definitive in her statement and lists a bunch of reasons why they may not.

The only click bait is this thread title.

I must have missed a few impressive wins. They had a nice ten minute stretch against us where we decided that our inexperienced big men could handle Isaiah Johnson by himself. Their best win is against us without Tony Campbell. Their next best win is a home game against a team that our fans were pulling their hair out over the fact that we lost to them on the road. Other than our game they have played the current #8,#10, #11 and #12 seeds in the MAC tournament and beat them all by single digits. Loaded?

I'd put my $$ on them getting smashed again in the 1st NCAA round. Though it won't be by an old Akron assistant this time I guess.

But sadly, they do look like the best of the conference at the moment by a good margin. Just not the highest upside in the tourney IMO (EMU, before today, Ohio, and maybe CMU).
