Though I am not an orthopedist, I seem to recall that most fractures of the foot heal is 6 to 8 weeks. Does anybody know what kind of fracture Tony Campbell had? If my dates are correct, he should be "healed" the week of the MAC tourney albeit probably badly out of shape.

I would suspect that 6-8 week timeframe isn't taking into account a 250lb man who is going to be jumping and landing awkwardly on said foot.

Tape it up and put him in a pair of Chuck Taylors. That would be the opinion of others on this board that aren't podiatrists.

I believe everyone was holding out hope that would be the case, that he might be able to return before the end of the year, but I think the fact that he had to have surgery has extended the recovery time.

If it's the type of broken bone and foot surgery that Zydrunas Ilgauskas of the CAVS repeatedly had, it could takes months and months for the foot to properly heal, and even at that TC might never the same. Broken bones in the feet of very, very tall basketball players can be a very dicey thing, apparently.

Disclaimer though; I have no idea as to whether Tony's broken foot or injury was at all similar to Ilgauskas', just using Ilgauskas as an example. I hope Tony's is much less severe!

My guess is it's a "Jones Fracture" This is a fracture of the little bone on the outside of the foot. If you look at your foot there is a bump on the outside above the little toe. This bone has very little blood supply and fractures do not heal easily. Generally there is a screw inserted to pull the pieces together and aid healing. These fractures take a long time to heal due to the lack of blood flow.

Thought I heard Reghi say it would take six weeks. But that doesn't mean he'll be ready to play. And frankly I would rather he not screw up any possibilities for the NBA. Yes, I'd like to see him in an Ohio uniform again, but he has his future to consider.

So do Naviculars like Michael Jordan had with a large % of Non Unions but to sit and talk about healing without knowing which one of the 26 bones in the foot is broken and screwed is the epitome of mental masturbation.
