I was bored, so I started looking up some stats comparing Jordy and Nick on made 3pt FG's to this point in Dartis' career. Nick Kellogg, through 2 seasons at Ohio, made 149 3pt FG's. To this point, Jordan Dartis has made 105. If current averages hold, 3.2 made 3pt FG's per game for Dartis, and conservatively saying 18 games remaining for him this season (very likely more), he would make 96 3pt FG's this season, bringing his two year total to 163. Obviously a lot goes into actually getting to the benchmarks and projections, namely health and quality of shooting, but I think it's interesting to see Jordy slightly ahead of Nick's pace at this point in their careers.

And like I said, I was bored.

Another, non-statistical comparison between the two:

Unlike many players of today who, after doing something good on the field or on the court and give everyone the tough-guy look or flex their muscles, both Kellogg and Dartis have a big grin on their faces. Something I've always appreciated.

There is a comparison also regarding physical development. Dartis is trending in the direction of Kellogg in his junior and senior years.

Look at his arms, shoulders, etc.

Watching the game last night on tv i must admit i drew the same comparison conclusion.

Kellogg was better at going to the basket. Dartis can have a big summer and pass Kellogg. Dartis seems to be a better ball handler.

Who do you think gets a shot off quicker? My memory isn't the greatest, but I feel that Jordan gets a 3 pt shot off quicker than any Bobcat that I can think of. And we've had some quickdraws.

Didn't have that quick release in high school. I've been told that it is something he was told to work on between h.s. senior year and freshman year at Ohio. I noticed a big difference last year so the work/effort definitely paid off.

both also have the ability to earn a paycheck playing hoops after graduation.

Which leads to a question. I could see all 5 starters (even do a little of everything Block) earning a living playing hoops upon graduation. I know that most/many recent grads have - treg, stevie, etc. And I know there are more leagues and opportunities than ever before.

So, 1. is this new territory for OHIO and 2. is it similar at other MAC schools (so many players playing after graduation)? I have no idea.

I don't see Block playing over see's, there are way too many wing players that can do much more. Block should not have start forever status, if Gollon, Culver or Butler can outplay him, they should play. Dartis is a tweener and he will have to perfect something, Kellogg was a sharp shooter. I believe Dartis will get a lot better and improve his chances.TC, JS and KK will definitely have pro careers.

Actually I'm pretty sure Dartis' 3pt % is a fair amount better than Nick's. If all of his shots were from behind the arc I wouldn't be upset.

It's quick but I think Dave Jamerson was the quickest I've seen since 1979.

It's quick but I think Dave Jamerson was the quickest I've seen since 1979.
And Dave's elevation on his shot was amazing.

Dartis hit a late 3-pointer v. Kent. Prior to that, his 10 points came on four 2-pointers and 2-of-3 from the line. I have to think those four 2-pointers in one game are quite possibly a career high for Dartis, just as his 5 steals are probably a career high.
