I have a feeling Akron's win streak of 12 games will come to an end at the Convo. They've squeaked out a few games during that run and I have a feeling Ohio is going to show it is equally as good on its home floor as Akron was on its.

Maybe there's some extra fire in some bellie's after the WMU game. And maybe 'Kron comes in thinking it's a gimme.....

I just hope we get a big and noisy/engaged turnout - could be the difference maker

Are they capable? Sure. Will they? Doubt it.

We aren't beating anybody until we fix our low-post defense. I'm a huge fan of Jason Carter but he's just not a 5 on defense. Western got 16 points from two stiffs against us. I just don't like how we match up with Akron. Tony was a lot of people's whipping boy on defense but we are really feeling his loss in our defense around the basket. The Zips fat kid is so good passing out of the post that he's tough to collapse on. The coaching staff is really going to have to put their thinking caps on to figure out a good strategy.

No way Carter can't guard Pudgy Dog. He's got too much mass for an in-shape player to defend. I'd imagine it's like being backed down in the post by a mattress. Might be Doug Taylor time to defend him. Or better yet, pick up the pace and make Wide Dog run the floor. He won't last.

Also might be time to throw Ellis Dozier out there and do the Hack-a-Fattie.

If it's hack-a-fattie let's let Sam Frayer do it.

In the first game in Akron last month, Ohio's first basket (maybe second) came off a defensive rebound with Doug Taylor sprinting down the court to receive a pass while running through the lane for an uncontested layup. I don't recall seeing a similar play the rest of the game. I believe the only way Ohio is going to beat Akron is for Taylor or Carter to beat Big Dog down the court for quick layups. If nothing else, make him run the court.

Let Johnson score as much as he wants and wear him out. Don't let them hit threes. That's the stance I have on him.

we've played two awful games at home, one with no offense and one with no defense. And we've really put forth three bad defensive efforts in a row. Short-handed BG still put up 72 points. I know they were never really in the game, yes. But we hit 18 3s and still only beat their scrubs by 20+. As we know, 20 point leads are no longer safe.

Akron plays their best game of the year in the Convo. Every. time. Confidence is LOW. I repeat... confidence...is...LOW!

Agreed.

Unless Ohio hits another 18 3s and shoots something absurd from 3pt range....I don't like their chances.

I think I predicted in another thread a 4-5 finish to this MAC season...9-9 MAC record and (hopefully) a home game in the 1st Rd of MAC Tourney (but 9-9 could be a road game as 9 seed)

This team is just too wildly inconsistent to believe they can run off more than 1 win here (at Kent, at Miami, at EMU, at Ball)

And the home games...I'm not sure if there are any gimmies outside of BG and maybe CMU and Fiami...Buffalo and Akron are both tough.

Even the most optimistic fan can't look at those 9 games and see 6-3 or 7-2 as a realistic possibility.

I know you guys are only semi-serious, but there's a few reasons why Hack-a-saiah isn't a good strategy.

1) It slows down the game. Akron likes playing a slow tempo, we like playing a fast tempo. If we play hack-a-whoever it plays into their style of play.

2) He shoots 57% on ft's. That's around 1.2 ppp which in a 70 possession game comes out to about 84 points for the game.

3) The NBA's bonus rules make it easier to foul a guy without repercussions. If we start fouling early we'll just put the rest of their guys in the bonus longer.
