Not MIA. What we're seeing is who he is.

Expect someone to step up with Tony out and you wouldn't expect that to be a freshman. But it seems that Carter is the one taking that upon himself.

It's fair to say that, when Antonio was lost, we expected Kenny to be at the forefront of those "stepping up." We knew that others would have to take up the considerable slack too. Unfortunately, Kenny has not done so. This situation is compounded by the fact that we have a right to expect that SENIORS will lead the way.
Perhaps this will change overnight. So far, I am not seeing this or expecting it to happen.

Early foul trouble did not help. Some helping inside with Tone gone does not help either - less opps from outside the arc. I think they just need to improve the system w/various line ups to get some more open looks for KK (not many tonight - and was on the bench w/foul trouble a lot H1).

As well - I don't have the expectation that is has to be KK leading the "step up" charge - the whole team does. Carter obviously has, so has Simmons and Laster in particular. Block has been hit/miss thru the last couple games also.

I think the potential for good chemistry and rotations is there - could be some ups/downs - I'm OK w/that - as long as the trend toward up increases as the new season W/O tone progrsses up until March.

Players will need to step up, KK is a senior and should be accountable along with Simmons. Carter has answered the bell and so has Laster. Block needs to be Tommy Freeman like, we really need him to hit open shots and we need great defense down the stretch. Carter will struggle on defense, that is to be expected, he didn't face players like Stevie taylor every game in high school, so KK needs to give us some help on the defensive end as well. DT will be DT and Simmons has picked up the urgency. We need him to penetrate and kick and hit the midrange shots and we can easily catch fire. it is unfortunate that we have four nonfactors on our team and one player out due to injury.

He is what he is. I can't remember a more streaky shooter. Or a guy that misses so many wide open treys for someone who has the rep of being an impact outside force. For a guy who is 6-8, he doesn't help much on either glass, nor is he a serious scoring threat the few times he attacks the rim. Not trying to be critical here, but what you've seen probably is what you'll continue to get. I was hoping he'd step up and be able to take his game to a higher level. If he can't do that, Jordan Dartis needs to.

I think after the last few games, you're going to see more collapsing on Jason Carter and his ability to pass out of the post will be critical. Toledo seemed content to just try to cover him with one defender and he scorched them with his post moves. AS teams adjust that should mean more open looks for shooters. I thought Toledo covered the perimeter well. The one guy they let shoot from outside was Simmons and that's because he hasn't proven he can knock down the outside shot consistently.

I hope he's able to step up. He is a senior. This was supposed to be his big year, regardless of whether Tony Campbell got hurt. After all, it is his final crack at this thing in college. But, again, maybe he is what we've seen. He'll have his moments. But they may remain only moments. If it's a matter of confidence, hopefully he'll have a big game, gain some confidence and get on a roll that can sustain him for the remainder of the season.

Hopefully his huge shooting performance at Bowling Green will give Kenny some confident and now he'll get on a role. It makes things so much easier offensively when he's knocking down treys.

Makes a huge difference when there is no ball pressure. KK got good looks. The PG has to be a facilitator and the ball has to move. That action gets guys open looks. More action, better looks, shooters across the board look like Makers...even Culver hits treys.

TV announcer, after Block made a corner 3 in front of Ohio bench in middle of second half, asked who should BG choose to leave open. I immediately thought that BG wouldn't mind Culver taking an open three. Of course, the next time down the court, Culver hit a 3. He hit another several minutes later.

My take is that BG was not a very good defensive team, made our guys look even better.

The WKU loss still sticks in my craw but it was good to see the team expose a less talented team for what they were.

And i LOVED the Dozier alley oop. Get up big fella!!!!

Thanks for posting borna. Looked like we were in catch-and-shoot mode, no hesitation. Even Block, who I think sometimes is too hesitant. Hope the hot shooting continues!

At some point, it would be healthy to unstick our collective "craw" about that game. That WKU loss, at this point, means nothing in the new 2017 Bobcat world without Tony.

+1. When Rodney gets open looks he'll knock down, it's a really good day! The ball moved a ton, and while their depleted team played a part, OUr guys still made it happen and kept the pedal down.
