If we kept larry hunter we,d be in fine shape. most likely a few t 25 apperances maybe a final four.hwe would not havehad to worry abouthim bolted the way christian and groce did. ou fired him right when they turned the corner after the 98 season. after that season would have been the time to release him.

If you were an upper level mid-major prospect in the Carolinas/Georgia/Tennessee are would YOU pick Western Carolina (in BFE but not in a cool way like Athens) over Chattanooga/Belmont/MTSU/UNC-W/etc no matter who the coach is?

Even with the disadvantage of being at an anonymous school, Hunter did have an 18, a 19, and a 22 win season at WCU. At the age of 67+, he should be retired by now anyway.

"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

Hunter lost his top recruiters and had no significant contacts in the Carolinas. He and Reggie Rankin would have been pretty good in the MAC. Saul has a good basketball mind. He needs to get some assistants to develop our recruits. JC has potential, he has all around talent that needs to turn into an all around game. he gets into foul trouble now which is to be expected. he has never played against this amount of talent. No lie, I went to a Cleveland Cavaliers game in Lebron's first or second year and Vince Carter hung 30 on him by half time, by Lebron's fourth year, he was an all-NBA defender. Dartis needs to be able to fake the three, take two dribbles and draw the D and pass or hit the pull up J. Block needs to be able to do something great, he is like alright in everything. He needs to recruit competition for that spot. Simmons is putting it all together, he just needs to be consisten. Taylor needs to be able to dominate the boards and block shots and be deadly from 12 foot in. We will see what the next few years bring. Most of all,the coach needs to be able to settle the team at the end of games and be able to draw up plays where we can score down the stretch

because the proof is overwhelmingly in your favor (Larry Hunter was awful at Ohio) or is this this an emotional rant. Succes shuts down posts like these and hopefully success is on the way.

You'd have to understand the movie that WishIWasAtLuckys is quoting to fully get that we just think the entirety of the premise of the thread is not useful for anything other than comedy.

It doesn't matter what level your school is, you should still expect to be in the upper echelon of your conference consistently. In 12 years with the Catamounts he has a 102-103 conference record. I liked Larry but if he had done a good job then Western Carolina would be on the same level as Chattanooga or above. Larry put together a lot of pretty good teams in his time here but without Gary Trent he couldn't win in Cleveland (or Toledo or Detroit or wherever the tournament was when he was here.) Being a MAC coach that struggles to get past the quarterfinals of the MAC tournament isn't going to keep you around long.

How do you spend the last 18 years as a coach in the Carolinas and not have any significant contacts down there?

We wouldn't have 3 NCAA Tournament victories and a Sweet 16 Banner.

Larry never took advantage of the Post-Trent years and he recruited the Olsen twins....I mean the LaFerla twins. That's when I knew he was done.
