I only caught the pregame in the car and heard Marty Bannister calling it and he mentioned Russ slid over to TV, I assume doing the ESPN3 telecast...which is usually done by Marty. Anyone know why they did the trade?

My guess is when they signed the contract it was agreed that Russ would call a couple National games on ESPN3. Seems fair to me.

I really like the way Marty called the game. Yes, I was at the game, but as usual I had a earphone in one ear listening to the game at the same time. Marty kept up with action very well and didn't once that I can recall substitute his judgement for that of an official. I really like this style of play-by-play. Also, to me his voice inflections we good at conveying the rhythm of the action and the pace of the game.

Between Russ & Rob, Castricone at times, Jake Hromada and now Marty Bannister, we have had an embarrassment of riches calling the hoops games.

I thought OUr production had less of a homer feel than EMU's did Tuesday. No plugs for the coach's radio show and fewer shots of the home team huddle, although Russ called Ohio players by their first names a bit much late in the game.

I thought Matt Barnes did a pretty good job on the color yesterday as well. Not having seen the Columbus TV news is 35 years I didn't know who he was but he worked well with Russ.

I didn't realize he got to call one, but good for him. Lived in my dorm freshman year, ran the NCAA tourney bracket pool.
