Good thing we are hitting some threes because we are absolutely clueless against this zone tonight.
We were clueless against the SAME Zone in Athens. Did we lose the 8MM tape?

We seemed to have a strategy and were getting the ball inside. Tonight, we pass back and forth on the perimeter until there's 5 on the shot clock. Or best play is dartis for a long three at the buzzer

Quite possibly the worst half of basketball these eyes have ever seen: ugly display of a beautiful sport, senseless reaching fouls, wasteful possessions, effortless turnovers, a 15-minute delay for a review, all topped off by the stream freezing up with 37.1 seconds left. Not to mention an Ohio offense that on more than one occasion had a 6-4 player pass it to a 6-4 teammate, both around the basket, against a 6-9, 6-9, 6-10 frontline. I'd compare it to my son's biddy league game from this past weekend but then I'd have to apologize to the 10 and 11-year-old players.

Dartis--every rebound came his way and they had to foul!

Listened to the rest of the game in my car, since our "proud corporate sponsor's" garbage service failed to stream the game.

We won a straight up battle!

31-40 from the FT line in the second half. Crazy.

Very solid win. Difference was getting it inside in the second half and getting tougher on boards.

Hell of a game by Laster. 14 and 16 pts in the last 2 games. He has really stepped up his game of late.

I honestly thought Ohio would lose at Ball State and EMU. Looking at the remaining schedule Ohio is in solid position to grab the number 2 or 3 seed.

This was a huge win in many ways for this team. We avenged a loss to a team that beat us in Athens. We maintained our grip on the second seed. We hung on to win after Simmons fouled out. We won on the road against a team with a huge size advantage inside. We swept that road trip and now the schedule starts to tilt back in our favor. We just completed a real brutal part of the schedule in terms of road games and quality teams and now we sit 8-5 going 5-5 after the Campbell injury. We weathered the storm and now this team is finding its mojo with Laster and Carter emerging as key parts.

+1^^^^^^

If we want to do anything in March though, Carter has to stay out of foul trouble. He is the key to March success. The coaches have to really work on this with him. Hands straight up...if they score over you, they score over you. He's not a defensive center...need his offense.

Love the grit these Bobcats are showing. Hurts to think about the close ones we should have had @ WMU vs Toledo, vs EMU @ home...We could easily be hanging with Akron for that one seed. Although if you tell me we are battling for the two seed w/o Tony at the beginning of the season, I take it all day. Go Cats!

There's also the close ones Ohio could have lost but won: at Buffalo, at WMU, at Ball State. If the Bobcats had lost multiple of those, they'd be in the logjam in the middle. As it is, they've won about half the close games, which certainly is good given the circumstances.

Someone said it a day or two ago but he's taking over the energy role for the team and doing a great job of it. You can see his confidence taking off. He's doing a really good job moving without the ball and getting in the right spots. Would have been really easy for him to pout after last year but he worked his butt off instead and it's showing.

Last night he outleaped about four guys for an offensive rebound, including one or two of his own teammates. He got called for a foul, but I thought it was clean. He just went up and swiped the thing out of the air.

How do you call a foul on a guy for outjumping someone? Oh he's 6'4" so it's gotta be a foul right? OK, ref.

Gotta give the coaching staff some credit for setting the context for his development.

Agree Jeff. Also have to give the coaching staff & team credit for adjusting and getting into the paint much, much more in the second half. That, and Thompson's hot head at the end are what changed the game.
