After Akron, every team in MAC has at least five losses. Amazingly, the Cats are still tied for the #3 seed. Central is #2 by tiebreaker over Ohio.

Buffalo really coming on strong. Could be positioning themselves for a run to a third straight MAC tournament title. If they don't self destruct.

It's good for our chances if the Bobcats can get some consistency together post-Tony. It's going to make the last 7 games fun to watch, but on the other hand, it's not a great thing for the conference from the outside looking in.

Jaaron averaging 24 pts, 6.5 assists and 5 rebounds since scoring only two against EMU and Tony went down. He keeps that up Ohio is going to be "in" any game it plays. Guys gotta follow suit and help out.

Check the highlights here - Kent gave away this home game to allow BG to be more in the mix, and Ball State didn't help themselves at the JAR last night either.

I say we concede the #1 seed to Akron and root for them to win out. It will help us when they beat teams we are contending with for seeding.

I hope I'm wrong, but 2-5 in these last 7 is a real possibility. Carter needs to stay out of foul trouble for positive things to happen come March. #BleedGreen

Agreed - this league is goofy right now. Could easily see any one of about 5-6 teams getting the bye, Ohio included. Stand up and Cheer, and enjoy the ride over the next 3 1/2 weeks!

The MAC has Ohio as the #2 seed right now. A loss to #3 Ball St. could drop Ohio down to #6-#7 seed by this time next week, depending on outcomes of other games.

My point: let's not get overconfident on the high seed yet and just take care of business.

BSU should be #2 at the moment and Ohio #3. Ohio and BSU have the best winning percentage in the head-to-head among the five 6-5 teams. Ohio and BSU are 2-1; Buffalo is 3-2; NIU 1-2; CMU 1-3.

Because we haven't played BSU yet, the next tiebreaker is division records. Ohio is 4-1 vs the East; BSU is 5-0 against the West. That would put them in at #2.

Anyway, winning Friday would be huge toward getting the #2 seed.

Thanks for the analysis. Makes me wish this would have been on Saturday even more.

That tiebreaker only applies for determining a division champion. Since that doesn't apply, the next tiebreaker is winning percentage against ranked teams. Because Ohio has a win against No. 1 Akron and Ball State does, Ohio wins the tiebreaker and is No. 2 at the moment.

Plus, this would give Ohio the first non-head to head tiebreaker against anyone...

The real oddity of all this is that the East has the top three and bottom three seeds and the West has 4-9.

It'll be pleasant listening to the "realistic" posters try to explain-away how we are 2nd in the conference.

"Worst 2-seed in the nation" (sarcasm)
