Enjoyed watching the game today on the tube and thrilled with the win.

Despite the hissy-fit (justified) Saul threw at the end of the WKU game, Dambrot is BIGGER BIGGER jerk than Saul could ever be, to the point it has rubbed off on his team. Glad they left Athens all butt-hurt.

Two things though. Taylor has to go to a big man camp this summer. He backs down way to much against low post guys when they post him up down low and not just the one who weighs 300 pounds. He let the skinny one do it as well. Thing #2 is that Carter needs to get with the football S&C coach and get stronger in the upper body and hands. He must be from a small high school where the basketball guys don't lift. Some big city high schools have weight rooms that rival college weight rooms and the basketball and baseball guys lift even if they don't play football or wrestle.

But great win and Ohio showed who is classy and who is not in the MAC.

Good points and I have no doubt Carter will probably put on 15 pounds in the off-season. I've been very critical of Taylor this year. We all know he is limited offensively. All I ask is that he plays solid defense and rebounds when he's in there. He needs major help with his footwork and constantly allows guys to back him down way too easily. Greencat is right. Why just let them back you in all the way to the basket with zero resistance? With that said, he scored 4 crucial points down the stretch, including two huge FTs. Just need to see better defense out of him. Right now, it's seriously lacking. And I truly hope I watched him launch the last 19 foot jumper of his career in this game. That should never be allowed. Ever.

Considering some of the head scratching calls today, I think the mouse stayed pretty calm.

Taylor really did find he stroke on the FT's. They were "string music" as folks say around here. But with the size of his "lower body" even the 300 pound guy shouldn't be bumping him off the block.

The fellas sitting behind me spent most of the game yelling about Akron getting away with steps, over the back, traveling, backing into the defense, and various other transgressions. Then there was the obligatory "call it both ways" and "how can you not call that?" We see things through our teams colors.

I thought the game was sloppily called. The Bobcats continued to play basketball while the Dambrot and the Zips let the officiating get to them.

A good win by and for the Bobcats.

Zips are fragile mentally. Not sure how much they've been pushed this season, but my gut says not too much. They didn't know how to play a close game.

And you can definitely get into their heads. We did the same thing vs. Buffalo. Nice to see our guys keep composure!

Was at the game, enjoyed it immensely! Great win like that and it seems like drive home to Columbus only takes half an hour...

I've said this before about Doug Taylor: The injury that kept off the court his senior year in high school was very costly to his development--that's a year against tough competition in the Columbus City League. I still think he can develop into a serviceable big man, but he's a year behind where he should be. It appears to me to be as much about confidence as skills. I watched intently the battles between Isiah Johnson and Carter/Taylor. I thought our guys did what they could. 15 lbs more of muscle on Carter wouldn't make a difference against a 300 pound guy. The key was denying him the ball, and the defense did an OK job of that--by no means great, but passable. His foul trouble certainly helped, as did the fact that for the fourth consecutive year, Johnson has refused to get in shape...

Dambrot is a horses rear end but it (and being LBJs coach) is what makes him great. He gets a certain player we dont due to his shwag...and due to Krons automatic qualifier redshirt.

If you watch Carter game to game, he's got good strength for a mid major freshman. And he's got phenomenal post moves against most opponents. Akron's bigs just made it really tough on him today and limited his moves. Defensively, next year he probably won't be guarding fives. Also, he comes from a Div II high school that graduates over 200. Not really small. I am pretty sure he lifted during HS. And plans are in place to add 15-20 lbs of muscle during the off season, but it will be by the basketball strength man, not football.

After all his trials and tribulations, Coach Dambrodt is lucky to be in Akron and they are lucky to have him. Truth be told, I am not sure there is any coach LeBron James has had that he respects more than Keith Dambrodt. They talk regularly and LeBron doesn't hide the fact that he still seeks his counsel.

The problem for Coach Dambrodt is that even though he gets the cream of the crop in the MAC, he can't seem to climb the NCAA hurdle of getting past the first round. The toughness factor missing today is going to be what he and his team needs to move on in the NCAA tournament. It would be great for the MAC if both we and Akron miraculously made it in the tournament and made it to the Sweet 16. It may seem like a fairy tale, but on paper both teams have the potential to do just that, Akron's problem is going to be mental discipline and mental toughness.

I agree that Ohio and Carter would be better off next year with him not having to match up with the other teams' five. But which Ohio player do you see taking over that position and allowing Carter to play the 4? And while we're at it, I think Ohio would have been better off, in a perfect world, with Carter taking over the starting spot from KK and teaming up with Tony Campbell some time during the course of this season.

Also, while Johnstown is a growing high school, the competition in the LCL is not top notch. It wasn't unusual to see Carter matching up with 6-2 football linemen posing as basketball players during the winter months.
