Fellow Bobcatters: Lest I be accused of looking ahead, I have good reason to. Marcus Keane from C. Michigan will be visiting The Convo with his Central Michigan mates next Tuesday. The only reason that I mention this before we play the two important games prior to, is that there is a fine feature article in him in Sports Illustrated this week. Do yourself a favor and read it. It certainly appears as though he will be the best individual player we will see on our home court this year ( especially with Antonio injured).
I hope that this prompts a strong crowd for a home victory!

When he gets hot, he's almost impossible to defend. He will launch very deep threes with a hand in his face, and he's quick enough to drive for layups. He also has some weapons around him like Rayson who make open shots if Keene is doubled or tripled. His display against Kent State was incredible - even better than the 50 points he put up against hapless Fiami - because the Flashes were actually guarding him and he could not be stopped.

For some unknown reason, Central was a seven point underdog in that game. Since I was visiting Vegas this weekend, Keene's performance made me really, really happy. I'm just hoping he cools down by the time he visits Athens.

Saul's a man to man guy, but if I were the coach? I'd box-and-one this guy until he couldn't see straight.

SMother him, and you run the risk of Rayson going off. It's still a head scratcher, to me, that with that tandem in the back court they still aren't a really solid MAC performer.

Ken Pomeroy rates Central Michigan's defense 332nd in the country.

Really looking forward to seeing these two but also have tickets to a Performing Arts Series show at Mem Aud. The MAC switch to Tuesday night has created quite a few conflicts with long standing practices. I hope they let everyone on campus note what night games will be scheduled for next year real soon.

This is something you would think would be shared better across the campus. Scheduling significant events that conflict is really bad in a place like Athens. I know, the audiences aren't always the same, but they over lap, and both the arts and sports are worthy of attendance.

This is one that should be worth watching because it'll be played in the 80's and up. Lava Cake time could come at the under 12 in the second half.

Just out of Curiosity....what does the Campus have to do with it? I thought the MAC office set the schedule. For the record, after years of movement from no specific night some wednesdays and some tuesdays and an occassional other day. ....it is now always on the same night.

Up until just a few short years ago, MAC games were Wednesday/Saturday. As for the campus, the Performing Arts series is scheduled a year in advance where the MAC basketball schedule is lucky to come out by June 1. When you have a limited population base with much crossover in interest and attendance, professional courtesy was extended from department to department to avoid conflicts whenever possible. My guess is that going forward, Performing Arts will avoid Tuesday night shows in January and February which is the heart of the MAC season.

I personally am looking forward to seeing Jason Carter obliterate Central's non-existent inside guys. I look for 25 and 15 from him against this little team.

My point is simply this: If one group is setting a calendar, and they have flexibility, why not intentionally plan around things that are already scheduled? With MAC games, I know the timing is set by the league. Maybe it's far easier said than done.

It feels like the Wed/Sat game routine has been disrupted a lot more this season. I miss when it was predictable when we were playing based on the day of the week. It feels like that is going away. I don't like it, but it's obviously not my call.
