After watching him put in 22 this last game, it occurred to me that he has only played 3 seasons total. Is he elgible to petition for a fourth? Many more nights like that an we may want to lawyer up and go talk to the NCAA.

I think he can petition for another year if he wants, but I'm not sure what his chances would be. As I recall, the situation surrounding his departure from MSU gives him some leverage, but I'm not sure how much. There are those here that know much more than I do about the inner workings of the NCAA.

I heard MSU ruined his chances by not applying for a med redshirt for him on purpose. He and Izzo got into it and MSU did everything they could to hinder him. Same thing happened to Damon Stringer at Cleveland State. http://www.mlive.com/spartans/index.ssf/2014/08/tom_izzo_...

I'd bet his chances would be greatly improved if he played at one of the blue bloods - Duke, UK, UNC, etc..

Assuming he is meeting academic standards, it would appear that Coach Izzo was granted extrordinary power over KK's future. As one of my colleagues once remarked in a comparable business situation, they outlawed slavery 150 years ago.

If Michigan State would apply for a med redshirt for the year that kenny sat, he would be a shoe in. Ohio State refused to do it for Stringer. KK still has an outside chance, do we have a scholly for him?https://www.csuohio.edu/class/com/clevelandstater/Archive...

If Harley can't play again, could his scholarship become available?

If there is a wild card to play - it's in Schaus' hand. Question is - Does he want to go there - into that what would become a public visible battlefield?

I asked him the question about an extra year possibility straight up couple years ago - he just shook his head "no" (no verbal remark)

+1 we will have to put Izzo out there and open up a scholly. Harley should retire and be given a university scholarship, if he can't play.

Schaus vs Izzo - odds of Schaus pursuing that? And your take on whether that would be a smart move by Schaus - In the best total interest of OHIO UNIVERSITY?

Izzo is a legend, but I am sure if Denzel Valentine had the same issues as Kenny he would not have been treated that way. Also the way that they plucked away Brynn Forbes from Cleveland State and Forbes did not have to sit out a year makes me think it would be an uphill battle, but I want to see somebody take him down, maybe Schaus is not up for it. Ohio high school coaches will appreciate the effort though. I don't know what I would do, that is a tough call.

We shouldn't automatically assume Kenny wants a 6th year of college. He is engaged to be married and may be ready to move on to the next phase of life, basketball or otherwise.

KK's time in Athens has turned out basically opposite of what I expected. Given what he did as a freshman in the Big Ten, particularly in regards to 3 point shooting, I thought he would be an all-MAC level player. On the flipside, given what happened with MSU and the very stern comments from Izzo (who doesn't typically do that), I thought he would end up being a problem, possibly a poor teammate or rule breaker in general. Here we are as he winds up his career and he is more of a complementary player on the court, but by all accounts has been a model citizen and teammate. Go figure.

Andrew, my conclusion based on the facts you enumerated is the Izzo is a jerk. I also have some corroborating evidence from other sources that also point in that direction.

I feel like he fulfilled what my expectations were. He has averaged 12 points per game and given us some highlight reel NBA 3's. Other than that, I didn't think he would average a double-double. He's a 6-8 spot up shooter.

Seems like this question came up before the season and Saul was pretty well resigned to the fact that KK was done after this year.

Izzo may or may not be a jerk, but Ruck is right. Izzo's remarks upon dismissing Kaminski were much more pointed than usual. It was conspicuous. Compare what he said about dismissing Chris Allen or Korie Lucious, and those guys earned their ticket out.

I'm with you but I don't think my expectations were nearly as high as yours. I would have liked to see what could have been though if Kenny's shoulder had been healthy. But the worries of the problem child have turned out to be the exact opposite of what he's been. Personally, I'd much rather have what we did receive than the All-MAC performer/problem child.

That is my understanding too. But this question could easily be answered if someone were to just ask him.

So you think Arkley is just an idjut? You don't think there are very good reasons why he has resolved to not go and open that closet door (again) in this (scary) movie?

I fully acknowledge my expectations were lofty. I just thought that incredible sharp shooting ability would carry over to the MAC and he'd be draining them at a 50% clip, but that didn't turn out to be the case last year, though eh as gotten closer to being that guy this year.

It has nothing to do with Arkley at all. I''m saying anyone could simply walk up to him and ask him. A student on campus, running into him at the grocery store, etc.

I've had some extensive direct dealings with Izzo before and in my experience, he is a great person. Like you, I had a similar (unfounded) assessment of him before I met him, but he really seems to be one of the nice guys in college basketball.

He may very well have been a jerk about KK, but I can't say the same thing about him overall. Obviously, everyone has different experiences with different people.

Didn't we have to wait until after the first full season that KK was at OHIO to find out officially that he wouldn't be eligible..for the season which had already ended?

Likewise, we'd probably get the decision on a 6th year after that 6th year was passed.
