I love this site and how easy it is to navigate. However, after 10 years...I still can't load a profile picture image. I'm an idiot when it comes to computers, but can anyone help here? I'm not sure why I can't just simply upload an image from my desktop or pictures section on computer. It asks for JPEG URL? And this is me not calling out the guys who run this site. They do a PHENOMENAL job. I'm the idiot here.

Thanks

If it's a picture on facebook, I can't help you, because the picture has to have a web address that ends in jpg or gif, and facebook doesn't do that.

But it's a picture you find on most other pages, right click the image and copy the address.

Then paste it into the "add a personal icon" box on your profile page and update. Remember the address has to end with jpg or gif. If it doesn't, it's not going to find it.

You need to upload the picture to a different website, then copy and paste the URL under "Edit my profile" then in Personal Icon section.

Used to be able to do in Facebook, but I think they've changed security features to protect pics on their site. You could right click on the picture then select properties then highlight the URL information, or open in new window and see URL, but looks like they no longer end their pics with jpg, which this site requires to work.

Yep - the picture can't be local to your computer (like on your desktop or My Pictures etc). It has to be on the internet somewhere so you have a web address URL to link to.

As said above, if it's an image that's already on the internet - just link directly to it.

If it's an image you've already downloaded onto your computer or one that you created locally - then you need to upload it to a website.

There are lots of free image hosting options out there (photobucket, imageshack etc) just google "free image hosting" and you'll get options. Sign up, create a folder (optional) and upload your image(s). Once you've done that copy the image URL just as if it were on the internet to begin with.

Paste that URL in your profile here and viola.

Thanks Guys, I was struggling with this also. i tried several before i found one that worked. One hint, keep clicking on the image until you get back to its original source ( where the Url ends in jpg)
