Any chance Tony can suit up and "start" the game and be subbed out before the tip? It'll be bittersweet to honor him Friday. Make it JC to sub in for him as a ceremonial passing of the torch!

Also, will Wadley be honored? Could be a little awkward.

What a shame that we have to play Miami in the Convo with our students gone.

It's been this way since 2013 unfortunately.

Agreed.

I have zero evidence to back this up, but it feels like the switch from quarters to semesters has hurt student attendance overall during basketball season. Conference games have already been going for a week once the semester starts, and spring break hits at the end of the season. Shortens the window on both ends for students to develop an attachment to the team.

Again, this could be entirely in my head, but I'd be curious to see student attendance numbers pre- and post-switch to the academic calendar.

Solution: Ohio could start classes in the Fall two weeks later, thereby moving back Spring Break by two weeks, and commencement by two weeks. Some will bark about making the academic schedule around athletics, but athletics are part of a large institution like Ohio. Moving the calendar a little bit wouldn't affect academics in a negative way that I can think of. Exactly Half of the schools in the MAC have spring break starting Thursday/Friday.

The funny thing is I remember people saying a switch to semesters would be a good thing for basketball attendance (because of not really having a game in front of students at all until January).

I doubt it since he has a year of eligibility left.

Eron Harris at MSU had a season ending injury. His senior day was special

When Ricardo Johnson went out for the season, he started on Senior night. The other team and the refs were made aware that he was going to need to come out. Just after the tip they stopped the action, I think he actually was passed the ball, and he came out.

I remember that game, and was at that game. It was an outstanding moment as well.

As a side note, I've always tried to make Senior Day/Night every year. My three favorites in no particular order:

*DJ's Senior day, along with Reggie, Ivo, Walt. Watching them cutting down nets made it outstanding as well.
*Senior day as mentioned in 2014 with Ric, Nick, TJ, Wilkins, John Smith
-the memories these two classes brought made those days special.

*Leon Williams Senior day, 2008. Also Bubba Walther. Drove to A-town following 13-16 inches of snow in Cbus the day before.

But still, if it has been agreed that he is transferring at the end of the year they could honor him similar to when teams with NBA prospects let their guy participate.

Its kind of a double edged sword.

Pushing the start of classes back 2 weeks could mean no students on campus for at least 1 home football game.

You'd also be pushing the end of the semester to around December 22.

Yes, I am hoping we do something like that for Tony. Knowing Tony he may try to sprint down the court for a slam though.

That's a very good point. One week then? Or, move Spring semester, and therefore Spring break back by a week?

Per another thread this would negate any chance of petitioning for s fifth year.
