I kind of thought the last nail came when Akron had those little hand out schedules printed pre season showing who they were playing Non con.
They had to win at Gonzaga and/or Creighton for there to be any hope of an at-large.
An honestly, those are games that 9 times out of ten, they aren't going to win.

Home teams go 0-6 last night including #12 beating #1. The MAC traditionally has been a very tough place to win on the road. Not this year.

Edit: Just ran the numbers. Only 4 teams have a winning record at home this year (Akron, WMU, Ball St, Toledo). The East has a 26-25 home record, the West 28-23.
This gives new meaning to "Life on the Road in the MAC!"

I fear that Jaaron ended any talk of a possible POY award last night. He just couldn't do anything at the rim against Buffalo and it worries me that our offense right now is Jaaron and Dartis swinging the ball back and forth for 15 seconds before starting the offense. Why are we not FEEDING Carter? It blows my mind. The kid has proven he's tough inside. Feed the kid. I think we waste too much time looking for 3's.

On a sidenote, Carter was the best player on the court last night, hands down. I don't care about Weathers from Miami, Jason is the Freshman of the Year in the MAC. He won't get it but he will be the better player the next 3 years.

Johnson had a bad night as well and CMU has lost 6 straight so he really could have made a statement. I think he thinks he has to put the team on shoulders but all we need him to do is facilitate. Just my opinion but I think we would be better served if he would drive and kick more. Saul has to figure out a way to get Dartis more shots.

Agree on your thoughts regarding Jaaron, some teams are good against the dribble drive and Buffalo is one of them. He needs to remember that the next time we play them. I think he needs to get better at attacking weakness of other teams. Jason has made a strong case for Freshman of the year and he can add to it Friday night. He was clearly better than Weathers when we played them in Oxford.

Buffalo seems bigger, quicker, and deeper than Ohio at every position.

We have a lot of talent too and play a different style than them for sure. So, it makes for interesting games.

I'm not surprised Buffalo won. And won't be surprised if they win the MAC a third straight time. (Their fans just have to be really bummed Bearden left.)

Will be interesting to see if Nate Oats keeps these types of players coming into the Buffalo program. I'm sure many don't like his style. But, it works.

I've watched some games live and on TV the last two years with Dartis' fans who have watched him since middle school. One thing we've discussed is that on too many possessions he'll stand out on the wing for most, if not all, of the possession. We agree that he'll benefit, and Ohio's offense will benefit, with more movement without the ball and running off screens. However, maybe that's not in Saul's offense.

These same fans also acknowledge that an area for improvement calls for more off-season work on taking the defender off the dribble. Dartis put a lot of time in during the summer between high school and college on a quick release on his 3-pt. shot. If you saw him in high school you would realize this is an area he has made great improvement. Perhaps another productive off-season will show similar results.

This board would complain about anything. Maybe we should recruit better student/fans as part of the application process.

How many High School games did you attend in your H.S. career?

Ever been kicked out of a game (5 bonus points for rowdy fans)?

Ever been warned by school administration about your conduct at a game?

Games are more important that mid-terms before break? True or False

Don't forget they are much stronger than were are. There were several times in the rugby match/basketball game last night where they just put their heads down and bullied their way to the basket. I give OUr kids a lot of credit for being there at the end.

Just a general questions to all members: We got out butts handed to us in the paint last night. Is it due to just not having the ability/experience at this point or is it a lack of toughness?

A size difference, or quickness/athleticism difference in certain situations between the two teams is a factor I'd throw in there. OUr guys are tough as it gets for the most part, so I personally wouldn't call that a factor. UB has some big, strong athletes that are match-up problems, and not just for Ohio. Perkins is a beast in the paint on the glass and on defense. Hamilton & Conner continue to be guys that give us fits.

I agree with OU Country that our players are as tough as it gets. I think its part of the reason we've seen so many technicals against other teams.

As far as in the paint, we have just 2 guys. Carter and Taylor. And they are never on the court at the same time. Kaminsky does his best but that's just not his comfort zone. So, we are always goint to have to overcome that.

On that last shot by Carter, he had a good look, but maybe take it to the hoop an make the refs make a call. You might as well have shot a three to win it.

Was at a high school playoff game here in Maryland last night where a player did just that in overtime. The ref swallowed his whistle on a play that had been a foul all night long. #petpeeve

I'd be in favor of putting this on a 6th Man Scholarship Application...

I don't know if the paint game is Ohio's game at this point. I did notice that in the last 15 minutes of the game, our senior forward had 0 points, 0 shot attempts, 0 rebounds, 0 steals and 0 assists.

With Carter shooting free throws with under 3 min to go, why sub KK in for Taylor? Isn't this the time to be thinking offense/defense subbing, so with us going back on D we would want Taylor in the game? Didn't understand that sub.

Noticed and wondered this too, Groverball. And not the first time this season in similar situations.

I bet we go zone when Ellis Dozier gets big time minutes this year.

Something that's been bugging me about the Buffalo game. We have one player on our roster with the size, strength and attitude to be an enforcer. Buffalo is absolutely killing us in the paint, yet our enforcer finishes the game with only two fouls. Why not use 2-3 more of those fouls, make them shoot free throws instead of layups, and maybe put some doubt in their head the next time they drive the paint?

Jay Berry has a better chance of getting more big time minutes this year than EDoz.
