Burns to the ground, no. Sick of this stuff, yes. Thankfully, I've already planned to get to Athens early for this, so it's less of an issue. TV has really screwed up some of my game day plans this year:

-Akron game at home.
-Ball State game that I couldn't go to.
-This game being moved up means I need to leave work a little earlier.

The fact that it's changed isn't what bothers me as much as the 12 day notice when I've already made plans with people and with work.

I know BMC-ing won't change anything, so Rant over.

This really does make it suck for anyone attempting to come from out of town, but atleast CBS Sports Network pretends to care and puts on a professional broadcast with talent on site. I think this is a worthwhile trade.

My son has basketball practice from 5-7 on Tuesdays so won't be able to watch it live from the start. I have no problem recording it and fast forwarding through the commercials. I'm with you. I like it when we are on CBS. We don't have to listen to them talk about Duke, Kentucky and Kansas the whole time.

Not to mention we don't have to watch that LeBron "King James" chair ESPN commercial with SVP during every TV timeout that is probably 14 years old now.

Hah, no kidding, although I'd take it any day over that Reese's Pieces Peanut Butte Cup commercial that ran ten times a game a while back.

Man I wish they would retire that video. That's about the most contrived message that I've ever seen. Can't imagine it influencing or attracting many students to Athens. The students are all too goody-two-shoes for my taste. :)

As for CBS - it's like watching a real game on TV. Love it!

What's hilarious whenever I watch that commercial is that the young lady who says this is a former student of mine. Sweet lady, but that soundbite -- probably taken out of context during an interview she had -- just doesn't fit with the rest of that ad.

CBS production is excellent, but we are lucky to have ESPN3 production for most home games.

Agreed. CBS does the best job, and has game commentary that isn't aiming to be a circus. (Walton, Vitale, et al)

Price of doing business for a conference the size of the MAC.

Discussed it before....CBSSN is carrying the MAC Semifinals on their network Friday night.

They're going to want to build up to that...and the only way to do it is by showing the best MAC games they can get their hands on....and that means NOT picking them during the pre-season.

They want the most relevant games....and when they're in the pool with ASN & Spectrum for weeknight games....you get the bidding situation.

Honestly, they could probably make an educated guess based on history and know what games will mean something....so maybe there's an option there.

But I agree with a previous post...if this is what it takes to better expose the league...moving a start time isn't that bad....inconvenient, yes. But not the end of the world.

Now weeknight football MACtion...that's a whole other steaming pile of garbage. What a dumpster fire that nonsense is.

At least we agree on weeknight football. But, come my son....Join the dark side regarding bizarre basketball start times as well.....

The biggest change I would make....have a few Saturday NIGHT games. Would it kill you? How nice would it be spending an afternoon in Athens enjoying the sights and sounds of Court St and then take in a game at the Convo and head back uptown for a few more sodas?

Never understood why they never play on a weekend night...especially when a majority of the games aren't national TV games....so TV isn't an issue

I've been harping on this FOR YEARS. Take at least one non-conference Saturday game and make at Saturday at sometime between 4pm and 7pm. Do the same for one Saturday in MAC Play. This would be especially good during times when students are gone and hotels and restaurant openings are plentiful. With the large number of out of town fans, it would seem to make sense to me.

And for Pete's sake, how difficult would it be to do one of two things with regard to games that could get switched for TV?

1) List it as TBA on the schedule
2) Put an asterisk next to it on the schedule to indicate that it's possible that TV could cause a time change.

It's not just the MAC. It's every conference. It's just now becoming reality for the MAC because it has a legitimate TV package.

The Big 10 plays 6 PM games on weeknights. Or 7 PM. Or 9 PM. Or whenever TV says they have to.

The Atlantic 10 plays at 6 PM on weeknights. Dayton doesn't have one Saturday home game that starts after 2 PM. In fact, most of their games have been moved to Friday instead of Saturday.

This is true. And likely why attendance is down nationally.

6:00 weekday start

And when driving from Cbus

Bad part - Have to take off from work even earlier (well - sorta bad)

Good part - Will be en route early enough to miss the 4:15 or so start of the major clog up at 270/33 and then down to Carroll......plus get back home an hour earlier

I feel like they'd probably just end up publishing the schedule with an asterisk next to every [home] game.
