Here's a piece from Rothstein about the NC State job. Hits the nail on the head about fan bases, as bornacat kind of mentions re: IU job.

The Reason Archie would leave is dollars, otherwise I agree with you bshott. He's in the $1mil range from what I understand. B1G and ACC schools would probably triple that.

Think about Shaka Smart, who was well paid and super successful at VCU. He held out for awhile until Texas came calling with, I think, around $3 million.

Archie is closer to $2 million, maybe more. Don't think money would be a factor. Supposedly he was making "Shaka Smart money" a couple years ago when Shaka was making $1.8 million at VCU. Competing for National Championships is what he wants, the same reason Sean left Xavier. He would only leave for a "top" program. Not sure NC State fits the bill, but it is his alma mater.

Archie Miller is in a very good place, my friends who are Dayton alums get nervous every time there is a prominent national opening. Can't help but think of the 80s hairband Cinderella and their song; "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone.") I think there are lots of coaches that probably sing that song after a coaching move.

. . . .Best thing I ever heard Saul Phillips tell me was "$550,000 a year?!?! If I can't live on that in Athens, I'm doing something wrong. I'll buy the damn Batmobile if I want" (Insert some other color things)
+1

Yep, that sounds like classic Saul.
