Knicks hosted Warriors at MSG Sunday with the first half played without music, videos or in-game entertainment. What do you think?

This has been a hot topic on sports radio all day.
The majority of callers and show announcers liked the idea.

Several players criticized it.
One saying it was "disrespectful".

Ha ha ....it s disrespectful to have to just play basketball? TO let your game be the entertainment?

Maybe the 100% quiet went a bit too far, but the constant din of music and loud videos is really ridiculous. You shouldn't need ear protection to enjoy an NBA game.

I agree. 30+ years ago they tried an NFL game with no announcers and everyone talked about how great an idea it was until it happened. It was boring as hell. I'm fine if they just go to no music while the ball is in play.

A good comparison, I have found, pits an NBA playoff game atmosphere v. an MSL regular season game atmosphere. Switch channels on a rainy Sunday in May between an NBA playoff game on ABC and an MSL game on Fox 1 or ESPN and contrast the contrived, piped-in, thumping "noise" from the NBA arena versus the organic and fan-led enthusiasm from the MSL stadium. I think you'll find that there is no comparison.

yeah, but the soccer game noise is just as pointless. most of those people at Crew games repeat the same seven chants over and over (some of them are really awful) and aren't even paying attention.

At first I didn't understand your inclusion of the Mid State League in your comments. I played in the Mid State League and I can confirm they did not play music during our games. Then I realized you were talking about the MLS, and that's an entirely different league all together.

My fault. Yes, MLS, not MSL.

That's what happens when you rush a post during a short lunch break.
