when did jeff boals go down for the season in 95? I suspect he was not on court for the Xavier game which is why Xavier beat them easily. his hustle plays and shooting streaks enabled trent to work his magic

I believe it was at EMU on Feb. 1, 1995. Would have been well after the Xavier game.

I attended this game. My fuzzy memory is Boals played, Ohio was ranked like #18 or something, Ohio led for quite awhile into the second half and then Xavier went on an epic run to close it out and beat us. And, that it was really, really, really loud during that run. Like the X fans were making sure Ohio knows its not supposed to be the ranked mid-major, Xavier is, so take that.... Something like that.

Fairly certain Xavier was quite good that year -- like only 4 or 5 losses.

Hmmm... as i recall, Xavier built up a pretty good lead early and we chipped away and chipped away. Finally took the lead about the 8 minute mark on a Gus Johnson 3, then it appeared we were out of gas because X ran away from there and we lost by around 15.

That could be right. I remember the huge run by Xavier to end the game.

It was during MAC conference play. EMU game according to this thread. The Xavier loss was a lot of tired legs after starting season at OSU at Virginia in NY for semi and final games at Kentucky and at Iowa. Hell of a schedule that may have done them in.

I was at that game as well. You are correct here -- loud fans (they served alcohol there I recall), Xavier was ranked, Ohio played well.

There was a neutral floor game vs UC Irvine the night before the Iowa game, so it must've been an Iowa tourney. It was seven road games in just over two weeks, with two vs ranked teams, to start the season. They nearly beat UK but just ran out of gas at Iowa. http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/ohio/1995-sch...
