Don't overthink it. It's pretty simple. #2 needs to play the three best games of his career in a row for OHIO to cut down the nets on Saturday night.
I don't think it's that extreme. He needs to be himself, and be the straw that stirs the drink rather than trying to force too much. He's forced a little too much in a few games lately. Most importantly, he needs to avoid fouls and turnovers.

What that is is open to interpretation. I hope that means that he works to keep everybody involved in the offense and doesn't feel the need to put up 30+ a game.

Armon Basset type performance....going to have to average around 25 PPG for all 3 games in my opinion.

I'd much rather see 16 points and 10 assists with very few TOs.

Me too which means we are playing team ball and not Basset ball.

Basset ball got us to the tourney, sometimes players have to step up a la Michael Jordan. If there is a guy on this team that is clutch that wants to lead us and score a crucial moments, lets go, but let's not criticize Bassett's basketball play.

Basset ball helped produce 4 wins in 6 days and another win over Georgetown. #2 is going to have to be the man...Mr. Clutch for 3 days for us to cut down the nets.

No doubt that stretch from Armon was special, but Simmons, and the way we play now are considerably different players than Basset and the 2010 team. I think we're better when Jaaron is the distributor first.

I think if JS gets in that AB "mind set" (apologies to Larry Hunter) he is not as good a player and doesn't look for the assist like he should. He's at his best with a good balance of assists and points scored.

Agree with you guys on the double byes. Why even have a tournament if you're going to do that?
It was actually a triple bye for the number 1 and 2 seed - didn't play on Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Crazy!
I thought that system was close to being good, but I'm a big regular season guy...I want as much emphasis on the regular season as possible. Some may recall my tweak to that system to form what was coined the "Ruck bracket."

1/2 - Bye to Semis, play winners of Quarters.
3/4 - Bye to Quarters, play winners of 2nd Rd.
5/6 - First Rd Bye, play winners of 1st Rd.
7/8 - Play home game
9/10 - Play road game
11/12 - Miss playoff entirely.

To me, if you finish in the bottom 2, you have no place in the tournament to begin with...and if you're in the bottom half, it should be a tough journey to conquer.

Saw something on Twitter yesterday that they need to change how teams are selected for the NCAA Tournament. Wish I would have remembered who suggested this because I'm all for it:

-Regular season champ gets NCAA Tournament bid
-Conference tournament winner gets (at least) NIT bid

This does two things in my mind: (1) makes the regular season more exciting and (2) rewards two teams in each league, hopefully.
That would suck for the tournament, they shouldn't even have one then. If I were coach of regular season champs under that format, I''d take a dive in the first game to rest the team. The regular season champ is already guaranteed at least a NIT bid as a reward in addition to seeding, why screw with it?

Disagree of the key being JS taking over and scoring big. In fact, I think that would be the worst outlook for Simmons to take going into the game and would lead to taking a lot more lower percentage shots than the team has to offer. The key is continued excellent team defense, no foul trouble for Carter, creating open outside looks for Kaminski & Dartis, shot creation and mid-range jumpers for guys like Block, Laster & Simmons...and so on.

Pretty much exactly this. We've won one game where JS was a shoot-first guard, and that was when he was lights out against Akron. That game was an anomaly. He's a great player, but he's at his best when he's getting his teammates involved first and using drives and the threat of the three to help get people open.

Drive and kick, drive and kick, drive and kick.

Drive and dish to JC, drive and dish to JC, drive and dish to JC.

If it comes down to crunch time, I want Jaaron driving to the hole and looking for contact. He's so creative when finishing around the rim he's almost a lock to get the AND ONE.

The only problem is that the refs tend to swallow their whistles at crunch time. Relying on that call is pretty hit-and-miss.

We don't need JS to shoot 18 shots necessarily, we need his efficiency and leadership. If he can shoot 18 and hit ten, he will create double teams the following day. He will play a lot of minutes with only one other guard coming off the bench. We need for him to set up easy shots for teamattes and take control when there is any offensive lull. He will be a key, so will Dartis and KK, they will need to be able to knock down most of their open looks.
