Got bless him; he plays hard. No lack of effort. But he can't hit the ocean with a beach ball from a boat since MAC play began. 9 of 46 from three for 19.6%. He knows it too, taking only 3 shots (2 threes) the last two games. So now every time he's in the game the opponent pays no attention to him. Instead they sag off into the paint, which means we're basically playing 4 on 5, clogging things up for the others. He needs to find his shot or we need to do something different.

The numbers don’t lie. Simply put, one of the main reasons, if not the #1 reason Sheldon is on this roster is to make the 3. He’s in a BRod epic 3-point shooting slump. Boals is going to have a tough decision to make next season with Sheldon if he doesn’t find his shot here down the stretch. His form on the release as others have mentioned in other threads has been off all season. Hope he can figure it out.

If you remove the WMU game where he "got hot" and went 3/5... 13%

8 games where he went 0fer. In the last 13 games.

If I remember correctly during his freshman year, his eyesight was completely off. I doubt that is causing the issue now, because I thought I read where it got fixed before his Sophomore season and he was lights out last year from 3.

It's actually kinda scary how similar the trajectories are - shooting percentage wise. Roderick was always asked to do a little more than just shoot the three, even if it was his specialty.

I've said it elsewhere but this factor can not be overstated. I don't think it is a stretch to say if Sheldon was hitting them like last year, multiple results would have flipped and our record would be much closer to in-line with our expectations. He not only would hit more of the ones he took (often in very crucial spots), but he would also have been shooting them more than he is. It is what it is, not much else you can say.

Yup…..at this point so much of it is a mental game and all in his head. He has to shoot his way out of it.

Wondering, for real: Does he just need an updated prescription? Get this kid to the optometrist!

At the Kent game I did not notice any Flashes laying off him on defense. It didn't appear that he had any wide-open looks that he bypassed.

As I said in the Kent tread, in the shoot around prior to the 20 minute team warm-ups he stayed out on the floor and drained shot after shot from the right side of the arc so he had to have confidence to fire off an open look later. I just think Kent was guarding all our guys on the perimeter tight. Some of the threes taken were of the NBA variety because of the good defense by Kent. Perhaps due to his poor stats when he is in he is not in the game plan to be in prime position to take the three that AJB or EJ are getting.

1 for 1 last night, nothing amazing but something to build on perhaps. Maybe he can be the key to an Akron victory. We are gonna need to be hitting the 3s.
