While this shouldn't be much of a contest (unless Jay Burson is somehow again 21 and suits up in a Muskie uniform), Muskingum is much improved over prior years and sits at 3 and 0 in the OAC.

I do remember when we lost to Ohio Wesleyan, with both teams scoring over 100 points, as I recall. Billy Hahn Era, I think.

Maybe I am just a terrible person that revels in the misfortune of others, but I must admit I enjoy the entertainment value of these mismatches. My son & I had a blast watching/laughing at UC-Clermont last year. I'll be tuning in eagerly.

Muskingum is significantly better than UC-Clermont was.

This still better be a 25-30ish point lead when we pull the starters.

6-6 non-con isn't exactly where we want to be, but I still don't have much thought about this team. Which isn't a positive. But isn't really a negative either. Kent State is the de-facto #1 right now and they're 8-3. They haven't played a very good schedule either. Akron has 7 wins. Lost to Milwaukee and Yale last week.

Toledo isn't impressive. Miami has some ugly losses. Thought WMU could be a dark horse, and they're currently on a 4-game skid. Other than a win vs Youngstown and a close game vs Dayton, they haven't played well. Similar with BG. They look worse than we do. Have some bright spots, but mostly mid.

Still don't think we have any clear indication of this team until we start getting into the grind of the MAC.

Only 6 teams are shooting over 60% from the field. OU is one of them. (Akron, Kent, Toledo, Miami) the others.

I'll keep saying we're fine - and a favorite - until we show otherwise.

But they also have a 6-5 guy.

Is this when we get to see Kuany or does that have to wait until next semester officially starts?

Then we can know if he is the #RealUpgrade or what.

Believe Kuany is January. I also don't think it's wise to pin all our hopes and dreams on a late signing freshman who was planning to redshirt (understand it was not necessarily due to basketball).

We could use the help for sure.

Since Diego Pavia's lawsuit win, does that mean Bevo Francis can play another year or two of college ball?

Bevo would have to enter the portal first to see if the Muskies wanted to pick him up. Not sure we've have enough NIL money.

You and about 150 of your best buddies are getting excited for this powerhouse. Bring on UC Clermont and Defiance next!! It could be that UC Clermont and Muskingum are the reasons that power four schools like Purdue, Auburn and Houston can't make Ohio's schedule.

Or bc football got a bowl game against NE Florida State Vocational Institute.

Most teams have one or two gimmies on their schedule each year. This is ours.

fwiw we opened the 1971-72 season by beating Muskingum 76-66. The best player on the court was Gene Ford who scored 30+ points for Muskingum. His son Geno turned into a pretty good player!

Shows how smart you are! Jacksonville State is not located in Florida. Want to baffle us with more of your brilliance?

No it literally proves my point. Nobody even knows where the damn school is. Such a rich history.

Does anybody even know that Jacksonville Alabama exists?

Last time I saw them play in a New Years bowl game or BCS game?

All those historical Sugar Bowl wins?

No? Nothing?

Exactly.

NE Florida Vocational is exactly what 95% of America thinks.

Jacksonville St is a CUSA champion and a D1 school. Muskingum is a D3 school. Huge difference. Just asking for a friend. What division is UC Clermont? Do they schedule Hocking College and OU Lancaster branch?

I’m sure folks all over Alabama know all about OHIO University and can find Athens on a map. Sorry the captain of your high school team stole your girlfriend.

Hah. Okay then. He may have stolen her, but he immediately regretted the decision. (None of this is true, but if we're just making up narratives I'll run with it).

Unsure why I'm getting blasted (well, nm it's BTC) for advocating that we increase the distribution of our limited resources into a sport that we have a legitimate shot at competing on the national level, and have done so multiple times in our past. At 1/10th the price point.

Rather than continuing to dump sky-rocketing resources into a sport that, while it absolutely is more popular, we never have and never will compete on the national stage. Best we can hope for, in a wildly successful season, is to play in obscurity against the dregs of never-were's and never-will-be's of the world.

Oh well...so goes the conversation when there's so much hype and anticipation for mighty Muskingum!

Gene Ford, a 5-10 sparkplug of a power forward. Very successful playing at Muskingum prior to a long and noteworthy coaching career at Cambridge High School.

Only because it’s what you want to be successful. If this was posted on the football board, you’d never see it unless we lost a game and you came over to gloat about a football loss. Thing is, we can do what we do in both sports! We don’t have to lose or eliminate one for the other to have success. What do you really think we gain by cutting football? You really believe that you get $5million to spend on basketball?
