On the plus side -- Memphis also starts three small guards. Two of three which transferred up from Sienna/Wichita and Tulsa.

Semi-plus side -- Memphis only plays three over 6'7. None of which have had world beater college careers.

Downside -- one big is 6'11 and another is 6'9 270lbs.

I don't think we win this, but I think we can avoid a beating.

This is going to be an old fashion beat-down.

If Boals was ever going to implement a zone, this would be the game to do it.

I'm not optimistic about this one, but hope springs eternal!

Well, this is a program that’s been terribly inconsistent under the current staff.

Yea, this isn’t a juggernaut Memphis team by any means. We’ve just looked horrible. If we took care of business against Illinois State, I think we’d all feel differently about this game.

Our guards size wise match up with theirs well.

I could see it being as close as our game at Michigan two years ago. Comes down to rebounding and play in the paint per usual.

Will never forget being in the building for the Memphis game during the Jimmy C era. First time in my life I saw a coach call a time out and all five players walk over to the bench and turn their backs to the coach. Those were the good ole Jimmy C days. At that moment, I realized Jimmy C wasn’t the guy for the job. I believe we lost by 29 points. And Memphis wasn’t that good.

Maybe coach could measure the rim and show it's ten feet and the FT line is still 15 feet just like back in the good ole convo. Because the FedEx forum is BIG.

A team can either be intimidated or take it as a treat to be there.

If this team intends to play in the big dance, playing in an huge arena is part of it. The MAC tournament is played in an NBA arena, so it shouldn't be an issue.

I'm less concerned with the rims and the arena, and more concerned with the players.

I'm not pushing the panic button on the season yet because

A) It's still super early
B) We have talent on the roster
C) Boals always figures things out and gets us playing our best by March
D) The MAC is literally terrible

Which has me still believing we're going to be doing our fair share of winning in the future.

That being said, I'm super down on how this team is playing right now.

Combine that with a road game (extended from Illinois St road trip) against a power opponent and it's a recipe for a complete blowout.

If we keep it under 20 I'll be hopeful.

Did I miss somewhere that the team is intimated by the brand or the building?

12.5 point underdogs. Feels like most this board is taking Memphis in that one. Although disappointed so far this season, I am hopelessly hopeful we make it a game tonight.

Their height at the rim scares me. We haven't shown the ability to finish at the rim so far and I have to imagine this will be the toughest test to date.

Evans. Elliot. More time for these kids please.

Let them get going before MAC play. Gonna need his size and length. No time like the present to get your feet wet. These games are nice prep, so let them prep. A win is nice, but in the grand scheme fairly inconsequential.

Yep. What's more important? Playing AJC and Captain Chaos 40 minutes and losing by 20 or getting the Frosh some minutes and accelerated learning and losing by 30?

This team isn't getting an at-large so the outcome of tonight is mostly meaningless.

Lets maximize prep for MAC play that matters.

Way too early to give up on Paveletzke as our PG, but I'd like to see some combo of Sheldon/Mitchell/Elliott running the point for this one. Just feel that the latter group are more comfortable making decisions when they get into the paint. Put Jackson off the ball and let him shoot - he is career 40% from beyond the arc.

Maybe I'm not paying attention to him enough but I've seen several posters bailing on JP. I was in attendance for the UNCA game and thought his talent was apparent, he's quick and handles the ball very well. I'd like to see the turnovers improve but it's not like Jaylin didn't turn it over as well.

He's struggled to finish in the paint but other than that, I've been impressed.

What am I missing?

Hmm what to do tonight... stay in and watch my college's basketball team get dismantled or go out and watch my high school's football team get dismantled?

Guess we didn’t practice guarding the 3 point line. Wide open 3 after wide open 3. This Ohio team is tough to watch right now.

Absolute embarrassment.

One would certainly think it would be a point of emphasis after last game.
