The toughest match-up we could have gotten in my opinion. I'm hopeful that lessons on slowing down Taylor have been learned.

That's what all of Ohio's opponents will be saying. None of them want to face Ohio.

I would like to think that the players will want this opportunity to exact a little revenge after losing to Toledo in the regular season.

On the one hand maybe getting BG would have been preferable but it's also very hard to beat the same team three times in one year.

Unfortunately, that is a myth that's been dispelled. The winner of the two prior meetings wins the third about 70% of the time.

Edit: Wait a minute! We only played Toledo once, losing by three at home and blowing a double-digit lead along the way.

Steve Taylor Jr....not sure what we will do differently to try to defend him. We controlled him the first half, but he destroyed us in the second half. IMO, we have to front him and double team him.

We can play strong defense as a team which I'm not worried about. I think it will come down to the bright lights of the Q and whether Jaaron can showcase himself and if KK, like Treg last year, is not ready to hang it up. If DT and Laster can give us quality minutes off the bench I think we're good to go. Laster had 7 against them last time but was still finding himself. He's found himself now!

That's the same thing we did to Isaiah Johnson in our second Akron matchup. Would love to see Jason Carter take him outside, run him around and then use his quickness advantage and take it right at him and try to get him in foul trouble.

Huh? You think Treg was ready to hang it up when he got to Cleveland last year? C'mon man.

This game is all about not letting Taylor control the game - not just in points and rebounds, but in the foul trouble he could potentially create.

I can't wait for this myth to die. Yes, it's hard to beat a team three times in one year. Unless you have already beaten them the first two times. Then it becomes really easy. Us in 2010 and Buffalo last year were the exception, not the rule. As RJ stated above the team who wins the first two wins the third 70-75% of the time.

I read his comment differently. I believe Bobcat1998 is saying that Treg was NOT ready to hang it up.

I was saying that I hope KK is like Treg, in that, Treg was not ready to hang it up at the end of the year last year and played like a man possessed. Just misused commas!!!! I did not put my OU Journalism degree to good use while posting :)

Treg is my all-time favorite Bobcat, he can do no wrong.

Yeah, I missed that. Agreed on Treg. He was one of a kind. Again, apologies.

No problemo..like I said, my bad on the explanation! I guess I could have listened better in Dru Evarts class as a freshman at Scripps!!! Instead I was too busy watching Gary Trent and hitting up the Greenery!

Not really one thing you can point to in the last game and say that's where Ohio lost. It was a tight game the entire time really and Ohio shot 50% for the game and only had 9 turnovers. Steve Taylor, Jr went off for the Rockets, but there were some missed opportunites down the stretch where Ohio could have taken advantage.

3:00 Steve Taylor Jr. Turnover. 74 - 73
2:58 Mike Laster Steal. 74 - 73
2:43 Jaaron Simmons missed Three Point Jumper. 74 - 73
2:43 Steve Taylor Jr. Defensive Rebound. 74 - 73
2:25 Steve Taylor Jr. made Layup. 76 - 73
2:06 Gavin Block missed Three Point Jumper. 76 - 73
2:06 Mike Laster Offensive Rebound. 76 - 73
2:06 Foul on Jordan Lauf. 76 - 73
2:02 Jordan Dartis missed Three Point Jumper. 76 - 73
2:02 Jordan Lauf Defensive Rebound. 76 - 73
1:52 Toledo Timeout 76 - 73
1:41 Steve Taylor Jr. missed Layup. 76 - 73
1:41 Jonathan Williams Offensive Rebound. 76 - 73
1:17 Jonathan Williams missed Three Point Jumper. 76 - 73
1:17 Nate Navigato Offensive Rebound. 76 - 73
1:15 Foul on Mike Laster. 76 - 73
1:15 Nate Navigato made Free Throw. 77 - 73
1:15 Nate Navigato made Free Throw. 78 - 73

Three missed threes and some missed rebounds really were the killers down the stretch. Had those dropped or Ohio went for twos instead, it could have been a different game.

Not sure what to think this go around.

I went to most home games and felt we were pretty flat all season long. I have seen moments where I think we could beat anyone in the league - other times I felt like we were dead from the start.

If KK shows up and plays like we all know he is capable of, we could end of up dancing.

I Wish I Was at Lucky's; no doubt about it, this Bobcat team has more weapons than any other in the tournament. The problem is they have to all be firing at the same time. We can't afford any sputtering halves. I still believe this team could go two ways; lose to Toledo or catch fire and win it all. For some reason, I can't see us losing in the semis or finals once we get the pistons firing.

We don't have to be great to beat Toledo, just solid. Toledo is a contender to win it all, I respect them, etc, but like everyone else, they are beatable.

Toledo caught us early in the transition to life without Tone. After losing five of the first eight (including EMU), we won five of the last seven. This is a very different and much-improved Ohio team than the one Toledo saw in January. If we can avoid cold shooting for long stretches, this should be a win.

I'd modify that based on my own opinion. This Bobcat team has *as many* weapons as any other in the tournament. I think what separates Ohio from some teams is OUr #2, and the number of very capable perimeter shooters around him.

Zippy is 15-3 for a reason. They have depth, and two PGs that can get it done. And they have two bigs that are match-up challenges together on their best nights. I still maintain in general that as Cheatham goes, so go the Zips because he's a difficult guy to guard for many teams when he's hitting outside shots.

Beating Toledo, to me, is still about limiting Taylor's affect on the game, and keeping Jason Carter out of foul trouble.

Spot on. They are 9-0 in MAC play when he scores 14 or more points. They are 5-4 when he doesn't.
