The Bobcats are one of 5 MAC teams in the WNIT. The actually bracket won't come out until later. Toledo, which was the No. 6 seed in the MAC Tournament, is a No. 10 seed in the NCAA tournament. It seems the MAC was a rather highly regarded women's basketball league this year.

The ladies are playing at Penn St. on Friday 3/17. Looks like all the MAC teams were sent on the road in the first round.

The RPI for the top half of the league members was rather impressive. I was personally hoping for an at-large slot but the way the programs in the conference are building it appears that the potential is there for this conference to get multi-bids. Of course wait until the carousel starts, but I'm feeling optimistic

Aside from Ohio at Penn State, there is:
Kent State at Michigan
Central Michigan at Wright State
Ball State at Indiana
Northern Illinois at South Dakota State

Why are there 64 teams in the WNIT and 32 in the NIT?

I'm not sure, but there are no no other women's basketball tournaments like there is in men's basketball.

The MAC should have been highly regarded. But in a lot of the men's sides best years the top was a muddled mess instead of having one or two dominant teams. A lot of the time the men's MAC has had computer averages that would ordinarily spell at-large possibility but parity has over this millennium kept that from happening. The women had the same issue this year.

The sixth place team getting a #10 would usually mean the top seeds are also in. However, you could argue that when you count the OOC results and tournament results that Toledo actually DID have the best overall resume.

Does anyone know if the OHIO-Penn State game will be televised? If so, time and channel?

Wonder if they can even travel to State College, PA, with the snow storm?

It's my hope it's on ESPN3. Does anyone know?

ESPN3's future schedule does not show it at this time, but maybe it could be added.

Penn State's schedule shows the game as being on Big Ten Network Plus, which requires an online subscription.

I also noticed Penn State is 14-1 at home this year.

Happy for the girls and the seniors, who deserve another game after how Cleveland ended. Anxious to see how they compete against another B1G team this year. I don't believe this program has faced three B1G teams in one season before, let alone have three consecutive 20+ win seasons and three years of postseason play.

Penn State will be tough, as mentioned above they're 14-1 at home. They have a sophomore (Tinaya Paige) averaging 20 PPG, she dropped 35 vs. Minnesota in the B1G Tournament. Her and Kiki will be a fun match-up. If Ohio converts turnovers to points and keeps Penn St's rebound number low, 'Cats have a great chance.

Ohio will be looking for their first postseason win on the road Friday night. Yes, game is on Big Ten plus, but you can always listen to the radio for free... (Cheap plug, sorry).

Ohio will be the clear underdog. Penn State as mentioned has only lost once at home and they play in the Big 10 so that’s saying something.

They do have mutual opponents:

Against Akron:
State Penn Wins by 13 at home
OHIO by 14, twice!

Against Michigan:
State Penn by 1 at home
OHIO loses by 23 away

Against Ill:
State wins twice, by 8 &16
OHIO by 12 at home

Winnable game? Yes. Bring your A game ladies and let’s see what happens!

Go OHIO!

Does seem winnable . . . but tough . . . given those scores against mutual opponents.

Wasn't a good start to the WNIT for the MAC yesterday. All losses, but of course, all games were on the road:
Indiana 71, Ball State 58
Michigan 67, Kent State 60
South Dakota State 94, Northern Illinois 84
Wright State 66, Central Michigan 64

The B10 hockey tournament is on this week, so they're carrying those games live on BTN. Apparently they don't even plan to show it on replay, which is a shame. They're rerunning ad nauseam a half-hour show on B10 teams in the NCAA tourney.
