I understand and it is difficult.

Giving up baseball? MAC baseball slimming down.

UB never had baseball before joining the MAC, that was a condition of their acceptance into the league. So NOT like they are dumping years of tradition. And it's Buffalo in February and March

I did not assert that. Was baseball a condition of membership? How does that affect status?

I know you did not assert that, I was just stating that baseball was a condition of membership when UB joined. That is no longer the case.

UB started the program in 2000 and joined the MAC in 2001 for baseball to fullfill their membership obligation.

So....given your insider knowledge of the athletic department and maybe the MAC reqs does dropping baseball affect their membership?

No insider knowledge, but baseball is no longer a required sport. I do not believe they even have an on campus facility anymore.

A former Buffalo resident I bumped into a few days ago stated Buffalo has 2 seasons: Winter and The Fourth of July. Obviously not conducive to spring baseball.

As always What Is: Buffalo Sucks!

Akron dropped baseball a couple years ago, or am I day dreaming?

MAC East baseball will be down to 4 teams. Will Toledo or EMU move over from the West to balance?

Us mid-major fans of sports other than football are lucky the NCAA has the minimum sports to remain division 1 for football rule.

If not, even more would be cut. And baseball would get chopped all over. (I don't feel as bad for baseball as a sport overall as there is an extensive minor league system.)

I am bummed for all the athletes and coaches at UB.

They might just do away with divisions for baseball.

So what will Buffalo broadcast to maintain the commitment for minimum ESPN3 content?
