I like to think 2010 was the beginning of the end.

Might have been but I thought they were just holding out till Pops passed. THis area is recruiting rich. Not sure of admissions standards to GTown and getting kids in but that is a recruiting goldmine

Underperformed from the start. If Duke and ND can recruit talent, so too should Georgetown.

Coach Groce would be a good match for this program. They need a good recruiter, good basketball mind, and new energy in the head coaching role. John has all of this.

It actually happened before that with the loss to Steph Curry and Davidson in the round of 32.

Davidson

FGCU

Not a good look.

There was an interview years ago with John Thompson, the original.

He talked about the "exceptions" Georgetown made to the admission standards for basketball players.

I would presume it hasn't changed.

I would also think Georgetown wouldn't have dropped Thompson until they had their new guy ready to go.

Living in "Knick Country",right after Thompson got fired, there was a lot of talk that Georgetown should consider hiring Patrick Ewing.

There's an article in today's paper about Stan Van Gundy coming out in his corner.

Another rumor I read somewhere last night to Georgetown is Shaka Smart. Not sure about that one.

They lost to double-digit seeds five times in a row. Throw in 11 seeds VCU and NC State.

If I was Georgetown, I'd call Sean Miller out at Arizona. Just as a shot in the dark.

What does TOS mean
TOS = Tim O'Shea. Our former beloved coach from the early 2000's. He jumped ship to a lesser program mostly because he and his wife didn't really enjoy Athens/SE Ohio and wanted to get anywhere else as long as it was on the east coast. Thus - any recent college job opening gets announced on this board as "TOS to..." as a running joke.

It's either going to be hugely successful, or a dumpster fire in about two years.

At least the 3rd coach in the last few years getting hired with no college experience and no head coaching experience.

And just like with Chris Mullin at St. Johns, he is going to have to hire guys that are effectively head coaches as assistants to compensate for the inexperience.

I actually like this hire at Georgetown. It makes a lot of sense, especially considering that this guy should have an NBA head coaching job now, unlike Chris Mullin. Hopefully he gets good assistants, because I think Ewing can be a great coach at Georgetown.
