Bobcats switching from Russell to Adidas per Arkley, as mentioned on the football board, starting July 1. This is great news, IMO. Having one of the big three (Nike, Under Armour, Adidas) in basketball is a whole lot different than football.

I was wondering about this as I thought they had been in talks.

College Bookstore has started selling some Adidas gear again for what seems to be the first time in years so I figured that wasn't just a coincidence.

I'll be interested in seeing what kind of uniforms are rolled out. I expect the football uniforms to be pretty similar but maybe a new looks for hoops?

Hopefully we'll get some stylish fan wear too particularly men's shirts.

There's an article about this in today's (3/21) The Post.

Seems odd that,if the deal is in place, they're not making it official, especially since the announcement was supposed to be in December.

After those gawd awful Adidas unis on Cincy, Wisky and some others the last few years I noticed both of them had gone over to UA.

I think only 2 adidas and 2 UA in sweet 16 this year. Maybe UCLA and I don't remember the other Links site http://adidas-team.com/resources/links / We are not on there yet

I read that there were three offers considered…

I'm kind of sad that we passed on the chance to be a ground-level customer of Big Baller Brand.

I don't blame Schaus though......I heard that our compensation was going to come in 10% installments over 10 years.

Arkley mentioned last night that Ohio is basically getting more gear across all programs for the same price they were paying to Russell. I call that a win.

Now that is funny. Well played.

sounds like smart business. Plus the recruiting behind the scenes that goes on with being aligned with one of the big 3 can't hurt. Although I don't think most that want to play for Saul really care about shoe affiliation IMHO

So prior to Adidas deal could players just wear whatever brand shoe they wanted?
Did their scholarship cover the cost of a certain price basketball shoes?
Are they required to wear adidas shoes now?

Good listen

Agree with Alan, hope that some nice shirts are an option this time.

And I really wish I could be a fly on the wall with these negotiations. And wish I knew what it would cost us(or benefit us less money-wise) to be a Nike/UA school. Because although Adidas is better than Russell, a total step up IMO, it's still 3rd place I'd think. Ah well.

Players equipment is covered by the University, scholarship or not.
