Kent crashing the boards kinda caught up with them when UCLA exploited them by pushing it back up the floor for transition hoops--some very exciting.

But that said, I like seeing the effort of the Flashes getting those rebounds and some effort hoops vs seeing one shot and fall back to avoid the fast break others in the MAC employ.

I do not know if the Flashes would have somehow gained the lead however brief it may have been if it would have changed the outcome much--BUT the call when the ref whistled the defender on Hall for a foul when Hall had sealed him off and ready for an easy stick back was a killer. Instead of the easy 2 that he made and +1, it was simply ball back to Kent--the score then would have been down to about 2. How the ref could call that a foul on the floor seemed like a call to save UCLA.

Walker appears to be an all purpose guy, shoots, drives, pulls up, crashes, looks like he puts effort on the defense end. If he continues on next season where he left off the final 8 this season, will he be the player of the year?

The best way to play these schools is on a neutral court as part of a tourney/classic before non-conference play. I'm not sure what too many road games vs. big schools does other than get a loss and a big payday.

Every March while watching NCAA tourney games, this thought comes to mind: If during the regular season the Power conf schools played a half dozen non-Power schools on neutral courts, come March how powerful would they appear?

I'm not referring only to tourney games in which Round 1 lower seeds top higher seeds. I am also referring to close losses such as Princeton's 2-pt loss to ND.

Put otherwise, I tend to believe that the gap between Power and Non-Power teams isn't as cavernous as the power and schedule strength rankings suggest.

And to beat a dead horse (does not apply to the Ivy League) when you look at the FGCU's and ETSU's and see rosters dominated by transfers, that has everything to do with it. They end up with bunch of older and more experienced guys, some of whom have been through the d-1 and even P5 wars. And then they fill in even more with juco guys. Put it in the blender and pour out an instant veteran team. Kent had 7 transfers total between juco and 4 years schools.

I think we have done ok with a couple but have whiffed on more....

Just watched Wisky and Nova with none. Built not on 4 and 5 stars but on the backs of 4 year system guys. OTOH CHris has a couple to bring his talent level up to Big East standards. He finally graduated the last of the guys who were recruited to the Horizon. Still has some A10 blood in the system. Looking for Big East 4 year guys from here on out.

It is a good thing at this level to get 4 year guys if you are planning on staying.

So - the issue is Coach - or Players? Looks like a contradiction in your post there (100%)......

Does Ohio have at least one schollie open right now? The coaching merry go round is turning in fast motion around the nation and that frees up lots of good prospects from their original commitment.

Kent was picked to finish 4th in the MAC East in the league's pre-season poll. I think that if the league's coach of the year was selected after the MAC tourney, which Kent won, Senderoff would likely get more than a few votes.
